  • Which brakes do I keep and which do I sell?

I’ve just bought some nice brakes for my bike and am wondering whether to sell the old ones or swap them with the brakes on my wife’s bike and sell those.

My old ones are Hayes Stroker Carbon in very good condition. Hers are Shimano Deore M575s in pretty much as new condition.

Any thoughts on which are better (I want to keep the best ones)?

(I’ve tried mine of course but haven’t really tried hers)

keep the deore’s. great brakes, no faff ever and plentiful supply of pads.

To be fair I’d probably keep the Deores too.

Ok, saves me a job too. I quite liked the Hayes brakes but haven’t had a lot to compare them with. The only thing I had thought was that the Hayes have adjustable reach (and are quite light).

    Ask your missus,

If she’s anything like mine she won’t notice the change.

Sell the ones you’ll get more money for!

IIRC there is a grub screw adjuster on deore levers….

I must have a look for that, thanks.

Keep them, always handy to have spares.
