Planning a quick trip to Glassie bike park later this week. I’ve never been and was wondering whether anyone had a recommendation about where to park. Castle Menzies looks an obvious spot, but I’m wondering whether there is somewhere better.

Do they not have their own car parking on site?

Weirdly the “site” is at the top of the trails, and it’s honking climb back to the top

Yes, there are now a couple of small parking areas at the top before you get to the bunkhouse.

We park at Castle Menzies and it’s a couple of mins along the road to the start of the climb.

We parked at Weem Church, midweek so not like there was a rush and half the distance of Menzies.

Cool. I didn’t think you were allowed to park at the bunkhouse if you weren’t staying there.

Look on Tralforks for the Top of the World trail and use the car park at the bottom. It’s a good warm up along the road before the climb to the park trails and TOTW is an amazing long trail to finish on.

The new parking areas are near the top of the blue trail – before you get to the bunkhouse.

Well. Glassie was pretty darned good, and parking at the church in Weem was a good suggestion. I forgot to take any knee or elbow pads, so was taking it easy. The black trails were not super black, but probably at my limit for blind riding on my my own.

I was glad I took my ebike though. That winch up the fire road would get tiresome if I was trying to do that without assistance.

I was there yesterday and today for the first time. Great trails – shredo and sundance are excellent. I only had a 130mm hardtail with me though, but the blacks were still fine.

For future reference for anyone, we stayed at a little motorhome aire, just to the west of Weem for £10 per night. Check out is deliberately late at 2pm to allow for a morning’s riding.

Is there a cafe or somewhere close to get something to eat?

The trails are a 5 minute cycle from the town of Aberfeldy, lots of options there
