Currently have Hope XC hubs with Mavic 819 rims.

Considering something lighter for enduro races.

    (a) will i notice much difference between them and, say Mavic Cross max or DT Swiss

    (b) is there much weight difference

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

You will notice using a lighter wheelset – however, there may be moe weight to be saved by running a lightweight set of tyres. Certainly cheaper to do as well.

What about something like the olympic rims? Look at just riding along, tubeless and light.

if not tubeless then look at the inner tubes you’re running – the light weight ones could save 100g a wheel though they will puncture/tear more often so you’ll have to weigh up the risk with using them.

Hubs don’t matter thatmuch, but lighter rims will certainly get up to speed more quickly and carry speed more. In combination with lighter tyres and lighter inners, yes you’ll notice a difference.
