On-time or early oil changes are the key I think.
Not from my experience. 20 years ago maybe. The merc T1s I used to drive had 6000 mile service intervals, which was practically once a month and we’d run them to over 300k. I’ve not bought anything with less than 150k on it for the last decade, a couple I’ve bought at 250k and nothing has had special treatment before I bought it or after. Stuff just gets a service about once a year. I don’t even pay attention to what mileage I’ve done between services or what the service intervals are supposed to be.
