Just like a lot of people this has been a hard financial year and as a family we’ve had to knuckle down a bit.
However, after being away from home for several months due to work, I’ve just gone to check on the kids to make sure they’re wrapped up and asleep and any difficulties have just melted away whilst looking at the peace on their faces. Truly soul satisfying.
I’m now sitting in front of the fire with a Ruddles to really cap off the night.
    Thank you for your time.

Do you have long enough arms to do that or just one of those fantasies
of yours you obviously can’t achieve.

I love sitting down all cuddled up with my children watching a good christmassy type film , my stresses just seem to glide away and for a brief moment i feel like i’m a 10 yr old again sat with my dad without a care in the world.

Seeing my wife and daughter playing together and laughing. That’ll do me every time. But then I’m a soppy git at heart.

That dried sweat and chalk residue scent left on your hands after a hard day climbing.
I look like Frank Booth, but significantly more peaceful, with my hands around my face for hours afterwards.

Just thought – riding in a forest in the Summer just after rainfall listening to Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works. What a smell, what tunes!

Tarmac as smooth as a babies arse, a tail wind and skinny tyres.

Just watched my daughter win her fist kick boxing tournament. Very satisfying.

Cuddling up to the girlfriend and drifting off to sleep after a good sh*g.

There’s something peaceful about cruising along on the sea with the wind in your kite and not so much white stuff that you have to concentrate hard. But It’s more of a relaxation and pleasure than satisfaction. I’ve not kitesurfed for nearly 3 years 🙁

The nearest thing would be sunshine, clean rock, good friction and (successfully) pushing the grade.

And an ice cold beer or two at the end of the day…

Rainy Saturday afternoon in my favorite pub, pint to hand, reading the paper.

Dry, dusty day in the Alps going back up the hill in the cable car after a ripping run, admiring the view and reflecting on how great life can be.

    A really satisfying s**t.

Today. The most exceptional day ever with my wife and two little girls – steam train ride with Santa giving out presents, hot chocolate in the station bar, friends round this afternoon, Sunday roast for dinner, log Stove burning away, girls now sleeping, wine out. A perfect day.

+1 🙂 Watched last weeks Charley Boorman thing and now I feel like I need to go to Calgary to experience those mountains in person. Looked amazing.

+1 for seeing your little monkey(s) nestled down asleep.

Coaching kids to get pretty damn good at something they love and then handing out awards (and getting a standing ovation from a collective group of parents).

Being ‘at one’ with the woods/fields/hills/mountains on foot or bike.

In the company of proper friends with some right good food and a tipple or two.
