I own leg and arm protectors, but find them quite uncomfortable, warm and cumbersome. I figure that the 661 style knee and elbow pads might be more comfortable and less intrusive, so I might be more inclined to wear them. There seems to be quite a variety available, and some seem awfully expensive. Anyone have any particular recommendations, or advice to stay clear of certain ones? Thanks.

Hard Dianese knee and shin are for DH only…far too intrusive for climbing and not exactly invisible when on the flat either.

I have some Endura MT500 soft knee pads and they work.
Warm in the winter and become invisible after a few minutes.

    Sorted.

Check out Gform stuff at The Bike Chain. Thixotropic like POC and 661 EVO, cheaper, machine washable and being on a lycra “sock” fold up nice and small. Cheaper from TBC than Gform direct.

Just got some Fox Launch Pro knee pads from Stif (£39.99). Haven’t ridden in them yet TBH, but they seem to fit really well and feel like they’ll be comfy on the bike. Seem to get good reviews too on just about every site I’ve been on 🙂

Been using IXS Assault, traditional Knee/Shin but best fitting and staying in place by far. Never in the way

I use 661 Kyle Straits, very comfy, don’t notice them on a long ride. Like any knee pad, get a bit warm when riding in better weather, so tend to stuff them in my backpack for the ride home, though means faffing around taking shoes/boots off. Washed regularly and are holding up well. Recommend.

Another vote for the GForms. 🙂

Be careful on sizing. I’m hardly Geoff capes but I’m a large!
