Mine aren’t really up to the job of putting 140psi in the tyres of my track bike. Wobble too much and the chucks leak at that pressure.

What comes recommended? Cheapest possible to work comfortably at high pressures.

JoBlow Sport? Claims it’ll do 160psi, certainly does 100 without any problems.

Rennkompressor (EVA head, not the stupid two hole one)

Yeah mine do 100, but 140 is too much. And if I end up with tubs one day and want to put 180 in them… I’d like to hear about anyone who uses their pump for such pressures.

Silca with a hirame pump head?

Might as well do it properly!

Killed 3 joes charging airshots. They can’t take high pressure well and shit o rings.
Rennkompressor Is a great pump but they like to fall over.

What’s the EVA head on that Renkompressor one?

I think the highest rated max pressure is an indication of its bore and therefore capability. That one says 230 which is the highest I’ve seen.

    EVA head is this one…

    Dual head is this one…

    The dual head is crap.

I can confirm the dual head SKS isn’t crap, its a fantastic design.

If the brief was to design an infuriatingly shit pump head that can’t bloody inflate a sodding flat tyre.

Who the **** thought a pump that only works if there’s already air in the tyre was an acceptable product?

stand on the foot? It’s foldable so you can easily get it into a bike bag, once you take the handle off obviously.

And yes, renn with either eva or hirame head.
Don’t forget to get a crack pipe for your disc……

The standard answer used to be:

“The last track pump you will ever buy”. But they’ve stopped making it in favour of one 10x the price.

Neither my (old, cheap) Silca nor my Rennkompressor have any trouble filling my Airshot to 140psi+

(EVA head, not the stupid two hole one)

YMMV. I’ve had two EVA heads (lost a RennK when the car was broken into) and replaced both with the two hole design. Find the 2 hole reliable. On the EVA the rubber seal ripped when pulling out off valves so it quickly stopped making a good connection – what am i doing wrong (l’ve Still got them both I think)

YMMV. I let all the air out of a tyre yesterday (removed the valve) and the 2 hole RennK head had no problems inflating.

Halfords have a Boardman one for £30 which looks great. Metal, very sturdy, no wobble detectable, narrow bore and a proper chuck. Not bought one yet but looks good for both track cyclists and Airshot users.

Boardman purchased. Very solid indeed, the pump is totally nonplussed by being asked to inflate to 160psi. No struggle, no wobble, no leaks. The chuck is nicely machined, you un-screw the end, turn it round and screw it back in to switch to Schrader, which explains the presence of bare threads making it look like there’s a cap missing – there isn’t. Chuck lever action pretty firm, but you can see the seal cinching in loads, so it’s leak free. Although it seems the non-return valve in the base makes a quacking noise in use.
