Doing the West Highland Way next weekend with a group of 5, one of whom has dropped out. If anyone fancies tagging along then let me know.

We’re all the wrong side of 50 so the pace will be slooooooow ( ish)

Cost will be whatever 3 hotel beds, 1 hobbit hut, food, baggage transfer and return transfer add up to.

    Weather Forecast looking up ?

I don’t have the exact cost with me but I think it’s £75 for each hotel, about £20 for the hut, £36 for baggage transfer and £40 for shuttle back from Fort William. So about £330.

    Good luck and enjoy!

I walked it last year for my big 50, I really enjoyed it.

If you can grab the ferry from Inversnaid over to the other side of the loch. I can’t emphasise enough how much of a pain in the arse that section is up to Beinglas is.

It’s just not worth it imo if I ever do it again I’ll be swerving it.

Are you walking or biking it? 4 days is slow for biking, but I think quite quick for walking.

Mmm. We’ve been discussing that ad nauseam this evening. One of us is going for the van shuttle, but the rest are doing the ladders. I’m doing them simply to find out how bad they are ( last time I kayaked that section with my son) and the time before I ran/ walked it. But worried about my missus who is full of Lyme Disease, but she’s decided she’s doing it….

    Biking.

4 days is slow for biking, .

Indeed, that’s the whole point :-). We’re all in our fifties or sixties, the missus is ill, one of us has a dodgy hamstring and I’ve targeted it as a leisurely fun, mellow trip. Basically the antithesis of 95% of the rides I’ve done over the last thirty years;-) We’re doing exactly the same stops as I did with my son when he was wee (11). I’ve done the InADay thing, but this is for the group as a whole.

Found a lovely new way down Conic….

And that there is the most utterly perfect carved path around the headland after Balmaha instead of going over….

The “wean” isn’t happy though. He phoned me from Italy to sign his Uni rental guarantor form and berate me for doing it without him this time….

We$t Highland Way Duathlon with the Wean

    Happy memories 🙂

( I also appear to have got rather sunburned, which wasn’t a smart move given the forecast)
