rotating mass as well… if you count the fact you’re accelerating it twice that’s actually 18 grams!

I’ve lost the valve cap from my shock, less unsprung weight.

Will the sticker adhesive still stuck on the rim attract more than 9g of dirt?

Is it now all stuck to the balance?

Are they Hope stickers? They look awful!

Which side of the shock is it? It’s only unsprung if it’s on the wheel end of the shock. These things matter at this level!

Yes, stop, I’m off to desticker my shock now

The rebound adjuster fell off my rebas over the weekend. I was instantly faster.

Not if you remove the oil – that has to weigh something.

By the linkage, decreases response time by half a mili-second.

You’ll live to regret that as you bounce to a halt through a rock garden. The flywheel effect from that mass you’ve just removed would have carried you through.

Find another 10 parts with excessive stickerage and you could save yourself nearly 100g!

Better get shaving the nibbles on the tyres too, and drilling out your chainrings/brake levers/gear shifters as well, every little helps! 😉

However, it’s only acceptable if you use the ‘saved’ weight to carry an extra choccy bar

Replace valve caps with one wrap of electrical tape.

    😉

    Handlebars and seatpost, too.

Oh, and be sure to take a dump before EVERY ride.

    Or none at all. Done

    Shave

. I left the wookie pants for the look, maybe a few g’s to be saved then.

there one complex maths involving the weight of a cheeky cigar vs stopping and reading stw for 20 mins in a portaloo during a 24hr.

Surely this is already mandatory! Never been able to ride without taking a dump first.

All stickers come off my bike as I don’t like them (saving weight is a bonus)

Cut 4cm of the bottom of seatpost last week and saved 40 grams. A good value weight reduction.

You need a lighter sestpost then 😉

I did this too, but it doesn’t go up and down any more. 🙁

Once I’ve worn out the chainset completely this winter the bike shall be reborn with that there new XT 1 x 11 which should get me below 25lb.

    Whoop.

If you can wear a chainset out over winter you’ll be wanting new linkages first!

Wish I was able to join in the fun at Bontrager…….

You appear to be missing an R. Or have you removed that to save weight?

I’ve 2 kids and a mortgage, plus my friendly trade contact decided to pursue a new career in twanging a guitar.

25lbs – how do you live with your self.

My bike is 18lbs without the use of anything expensive or fragile.

I’ve got 4 kids and 2 mortgages, and never had a trade contact and I’ve got electric R’s 😉

Its funny dirtyrider, that I was mulling over the “cost of bikes” the other day. Some people just get on with the expense buying up XTR and powermeters, others agonise as to whether to try to re-use some Stans rim tape rather than buy some more…

I could have one or two very fancy bikes for the amount I spend across numerous bikes. Just saying.

I rather uncharacteristically went and blew a sizeable wad on a lovely front wheel the other day. There was surprisingly little agonising. First ride and any thoughts of how much it cost were immediately dispelled by how much better it was than what it replaced. I’m sure there’s a point I’m trying to make here 🙂
