Sunny day in CyB riding some steep, cheeky off-piste trails.

And yes I’m fully aware I’m using poor switchback technique ^^^ there.

Went to show off my Enduro Sled at a pretty damp Llandegla, actually managed to ride with a friend for a change. Rode the red, black and blue so 48k in total.

Not sure if that refers to my picture (there are a lot of great photos on this thread), but what mine didn’t show was the bitter wind! The 20 minutes after that shot was taken were spent with the bike on my shoulders trying to stay upright and the choice was between walking through six inches of slushy snow or walking on the heather covered bog to the side of the track. Either way my feet were freezing. I love a god epic though and conditions were a lot more benign as soon as I dropped back down into the glen.

Suffered yesterday. Don’t know if I was just sub-par, but it’s the first ride in Swaledale I’ve ever had which I really didn’t enjoy. Headwinds, bit gloopy, very cold in the hands and feet, couple of minor mechanicals, got to Great Pinseat and just decided to bail back to Reeth.

Northern Beer Snobs visit Shandyland. We found out that Chilterns Mud is very nearly impossible to ride on.

Poorly Missus meant just a snatched hour on the local trails yesterday, planning a proper one for next weekend

1 second off a KOM too, grrrrr (although given the inherent inaccuracy of Strava, I’ll claim it!)

Well I had Friday off work so me n mar mate could drive to Wales. We stopped in Talybont on usk and set out to do the Gap Route in the afternoon. That rocky tramroad is hellish, up and on and on and up and rocks and more rocks. The descent back down from above the resovoir was fantastic and we had a great time. By this time the weather had turned and we were cold so instead of climbing back up to the gap we opted for the road back to Talyont and the pub.
On Saturday the sun was out in full effect and we had a fantastic days riding at Bike Park Wales. My first time there and loved it. We managed 8 uplifts, we only did 2 red runs and the spent the rest of the time on the blues whooping it down the mountain. Loved terry’s belly the most, espicially the bits towards the end, so fast and so much fun. We didn’t stop to take any pics.

Gisburn Thursday, local Friday, Penmachno Saturday. Weather was great for all three. Never been to Penmachno before but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I built up the Old Skool Gnarpoon last week & took it for a shaedown around a surprisingly dry Rivi on Friday

Then had a hoot at a equally surprisingly dry Antur Stiniog on Saturday

It was all going so well then this happened 🙄

Of course it happened 5 seconds into a descent. Not even a tyre boot could save me. A 1,000 foot descent on foot and 4 miles back to the van. I could’ve cried.

    Ouch

Big thanks to the four riders who blasted past me when my bike was upside down and didn’t even acknowledge me never mind ask if I needed a hand.

Cant let anything coming between them and their Strava time…

doesn’t surprise me, even when you try and flag them down for help they avert their gaze head down and carry on.

Next Monday I start on my Coast to Coast via the NCN 6 from Kendal to Seascale, pick up the NCN72 all the way up the West Coast via the Solway then across the country to Whitby, then ride back on a mix of NCN’s back to Kendal.

    Yay!

I did the northern half of the recently opened South Peak loop. Nearly 50 miles of off-road, quiet lanes and old railways (e.g. Monsal Trail). Had a grand day, although I confess the Monsal Trail is a dull ride when you’ve no one to talk to #billy-no-mates.

Bit of a fail today. Weekend away near Edin. Planned to ride Inners on the way home till I realised I had “lost” the key to the motor homes “garage” doh 🙄
Went for coffee/lunch ar Cafe No1 and met the guys from CRC who were demoing bikes at Inners, guess where my riding gear was? Yup, locked away safely in the back of the ‘van 🙄
Anyway, went for a stroll round the demo, gave Tally a wave and spoke to Trev Worsley and Clive Forth both of whom I’ve not seen for a while.
