Yup, has been a cack few years. Used to love falling back in love with the bike in the summer months after a good six months of mud and wetness. So much grippier, so much faster, and trotting out the house in shorts and t-shirt. Blow the dust off when you get back.
Sad reality is that the best time riding I've had in the past three years has been sept-Nov. Don't mind the cooler temps, ridden some nice dry trails, it's just a shame you can't go out riding till nine and it still be light.
Don't really agree that this is a typical British Summer. Admittedly bit optimistic to expect endless cloudless 30 deg days but I really don't mind cloudy days and lower temps. It's the wind and rain which is getting me down.
Saying that, although not been on the bike as much, done a fair few peak carnival fell races and all the ones I've attended have been on glorious sun drenched evenings, even in the middle of a week of cack. Maybe we should schedule fell races for every day during the summer. They clearly have magic powers forget pine cones.
