That looks good in the black, and I like the utilitarian/rugged nature of the fixed lugs and nato strap. A bidirectional bezel would feel wrong to me, so that’s a good tweak.

A slightly irrational niggle of mine with the Pegalos is the amount of text on the dial. Although I’d rather they had omitted the “officially certified” and/or “chronometer”, the new red “Pegalos” assuages the sea of white text, while adding a nice splash of colour.

FFS, *that’s* what Tudor was making a big song and dance about the build up to? Talk about milking something for all its worth – this is what, the third Pelagos FXD version?

Well  I ran my 2002 Seamaster 120m automatic chronometer against a digital stopwatch for 24 hours and the result was +/- 0.00 s.

    And it’s never been serviced.

    Not bad eh?

That’s amazing Derek.    I created an Omega account and registered mine which showed all the testing for it, with the accuracy at 0.003 per day.  I was pretty amazed by that, but yours after 20 years, wow.

Didn’t know you could see Omega testing data? Is it for any watch or just certain models? Registered my Speedy when I bought it but havn’t noticed that option?

My co-axial SMP has it, but my old Speedy doesn’t

That makes sense, it’s not the most accurate thing out of all my watches, but still wears the best 😀

i didn’t know that, but then its what it does on the wrist, or ofen harder is on the bedside table, that matters!

What have you done to your SMP Kato, 2s a day!!!

2.2s is after it’s exposed to 15000 gauss and two temperature zones, it’s average 6 positions when 33-100% power is 0.7s

My smp runs at somewhere around-0.5s/d I think,  I say think as it’s a while since I’ve checked.   It’s currently 3 secs slow and I remember checking it recently and it was +1, that was a week ago,  maybe 2.

My po runs bang on basically, but had recently started to slow by several seconds when it’s state of wind is low.   We’ll….I had it on the bedside table for a weekend and it had lost 10+ secs but it could have been about to stop by they point.

My pelagos is as accurate,  +1 iirc.

I don’t think I’ve checked the zenith beyond it runs about right.

    My snr035 +8.5secs per month

In my need for watch boxes to sell the “bottom half” of my collection I came across the Watch which Cannot be Worn:

    IMG_4572

Still looks great IMO and will be my de facto Hols watch when that damnable war ends.

It’s a watch,  it doesn’t (AFAIK) have overt links to the military and putin, if you like it wear it.   Would I buy Russian now,  no. But Russian stuff I have I use.  I bought 1000 Gillette 7 o’clock sharp edge (yellow) about 4 years Ago…. enough shaves to see me to about 110, they Are Russian made,  should I grow a beard?

My apologies.  It wasn’t my intention to bring politics into the thread.

It’s not whether people do or don’t want to wear something Russian which I’m questioning – it’s more the logic of not wearing it then once it’s declared over going back to wearing it?

Oh, do we not talk/ trade etc with Italy,  Japan,  Germany etc?  I think the assumption is ‘over’ means the world is trying to reintegrate and end the isolation.

    This is for @kato

    US1479 Bracelet (Omega Seamaster 300m)

They have others that fit too as do forstner, and all are good quality I hear.   I like mine on its black sailcloth with white stitching but still find myself looking at those bracelets,  I think they really suit it

Checking my smp again against time is it is running -1s/d.

Hello! Reverso has finally gone to the AD for a battery swap, which will hopefully cure the stop/start action. The guy on the desk did note some spots of apparent limescale on the back of the case – fingers crossed….

I tried on a Tudor Pelagos FXD MN23 in Bucherer. I liked the fit but the blue doesn’t compare to my normal Pelly, so no.

After that, I made a beeline for Blancpain, asking to see the FF Bathyscaphe triple calendar. The case shape and size were nice, and the dial ok, but I really can’t stand the handset. Then the salesman suggested the FF triple calendar chrono flyback. I’d never considered it before, as it looks super busy on the website, but in person…. sumptuous! It is waaaaayyyyy more than I ever spent on a watch (RRP €26k and change) but of course, negotiations and secondhand options, as it is a model around since 2010 I think. In any case, if I went for it, I’d have to sell or px most of my collection: Milgauss, Pelly, Oris Propilot, even my VC Patrimony. It is, admittedly, a full poser git watch, but maybe I should just own it – literally and figuratively… (yes, I have asked service costs….)

New at €6500?  That would be a ‘batter the door down bargain’  they are a £10k watch and not easy to get so discounts not really available.

I like the fifty fathoms a lot.  Even in the straight up non complicated guise they are too much for my wallet but,  nice.

They are too much for my wallet too, but it could be done if all else were sacrificed. I quite like the idea of the juxtaposition though; an academic with fairly sh1tty pay, who dresses like a tramp, yet wears a glorious beast of a watch!

Absolutely.  If I’d have seen a Chronomaster Sport for €6500 when I was in La Rochelle last month it would now be in the UK with me!

Hi folks, any idea on values for a Seiko Monster SKX779 boxed and with papers? It’s time to thin out the collection and whilst it’s a great watch, it’s just not being worn anymore.

Much as I love the 779 I reckon you’ll be doing well to get £300 for it on a bracelet, a bit less on rubber. Have a look at completed sales on eBay though, it’s a while since I looked.

Well, my offer from Watchbox for the Blancpain was…. I now have my Milgauss and VC Patrimony up for sale. The Oris isn’t worth selling (Watchbox offered me €600!) and as for my Pelagos, I can’t find the warranty card! @Neil, is there a secret compartment in the box for it? I’ve taken all apart I could without ripping it into pieces. I am the original owner, with invoice and everything, so very strange I haven’t got the card. I keep all my watch-y stuff in a safe, so it can’t have disappeared!

    Firesale round Gaidongs house…. 😀

Selling privately? Watchbox wont take your collection as a trade in bundle at an equitable price? (presume not re the Oris price offered….)
