Sorry if it’s been done before, but does anyone have a recommendation for a decent wall mounted vacuum please?  I’ve been pointed towards a Shark but they are quite pricey.  (I had a Dyson many years ago which was also pricey, but rubbish after a week)

They are spendy but worthy of that spend in my opinion and have good customer service/warranty. I recently had a nut come loose from the motor of my upright shark vacuum after 5 years and 8 months of ownership. A quick call to their customer service and a new motor was winging it’s way too me free of charge annd a 30% off voucher with no expiry for when I next want a new machine.

I own one of their upright vacuums, a cordless wall mounted job and a spot stain machine, all are excellent.

Hoover H-free 500 an’t wall mountable out of the box, but they do detach so are free standing.

I quite like mine, it’s one of the lightest ones on the market, but the trade off to that is slighly smaller motor, dust can, and battery than average…fine for a small 2 bed house but maybe not so good for a larger house….

Daughter has a Shark and says it’s not particularly powerful – I have no idea what model it is and whether they’ve not done something they were supposed to though!

They have a factory outlet on eBay.

Conversely we’ve have a Dyson V8 for about 5 years and it’s been absolutely fine.

(We do have a Sebo corded also for the ‘big’ jobs)

Slightly offbeat answer but our capsule x vacuum is pretty good. Bundle comes with a wall mount for storage if that’s what you mean by wall mounted:

There’s reductions on Miele cordless in the JL Black Friday event.

We have a Samsung after years of owning a Dyson pull along thing. It’s brilliant, I sadly hoover up all the time now as it’s so easy.

We bought a Samsung after 10 years with a Dyson (wouldn’t buy another).  It feels better made, more parts are washable.  It’s a Jet of some kind.

We acquired a Dyson V8 with all the gubbins as a neighbour was throwing it out as dead, a new battery and we’ve had 2 years of excellent use out it. Much as I despise James Dyson, the V8 and wall mount are pretty decent.

Dyson and Shark both seem woefully underpowered. I’ve given up and just got a Henry and it’s great (and a lot more reliable too)

i purchased the beldray version of Lidls cordless vacuum.

it was £55 with my 10% voucher. Mine came with a spare hepa filter.

so far it’s been great. Cyclone action. The beater bar isn’t just a gimmick on my hallway carpet.

id prefer if it was supplied with an xtra tube to reach my brownstone (12ft?) ceilings.

for that price you could buy two and never run out of juice

We have a Samsung one, it was the best power available for the cost and doesn’t look like a Transformer knock-off toy from the 80s.  Plenty powerful enough, and pretty well thought out.

We previously had a Dyson cylinder which of course was a lot more powerful but I don’t think it got the house any cleaner. And because our house is all stairs it was a massive ball-ache to use, so we now hoover much more frequently.

Dyson and Shark both seem woefully underpowered.

Question is – how much suction do you actually need? You’re not sucking the dirt out of the carpet, you’re brushing it out and then sucking up the now airborne dirt.   I’ve not noticed any change in the cleanliness of the carpet since going to a handheld one except that we clean more frequently and more easily.

I think the Dyson style vacs do a really good job but they’re slower to use because the head is fairly small and needs to cover every bit of floor. We’ve also got a Miele cylinder with a parquet twister head. That is easier to cover every bit bit of floor with and the suction gets stiff you don’t brush over. But you lose time fighting with the cord and plugging it in in different places.
