    Hi

I'm looking at buying a nice steel hardtail on the Halfords C2W scheme and have noticed the Voodoo range.

The Wanga looks stunning value at £900 and I was just wondering if anyone's ridden one, or any other of the "new" Voodoos (I remember them the first time round about 15yrs ago) ?

    thanks

One of life's great regrets, could have picked up a 17" D-Jab from Halfords last year for £900

Can anyone advise me as to what the sizing is like?

he biggest I can order is 19'' and I'm trying to work out if this is going to be ok for me at 6'22…

The new Wanga is great, fantastic VFM, you should be ok on the 19" but as always try it out before you leave the store.

    Oh here's a pic of my £999 D-Jab

Where did you get that from houns?? Halfords web site is showing them at £1599 with 100mm revs!

I can't believe you got the d-jab for that price Houns! It's about £1500 now 🙁

cheers rOcKeTdOg – that's encouraging! I was feeling pretty depressed after coming back from Halfords today realising they never have Voodoo's in stock.

To be honest I can't find a hardtail that is better value than the Wanga at the moment – Reba's, Elixir's and decent finishing kit all for £900 plus I get 15% extra to spend on accessories as it's a Halfords "core range"..

Yeah £1500 for the new model, the above is last years, we dropped the price to sell off the last few, got it on C2W too – Bargain!
You won't find anything with as good spec for the price of the Wanga, i was contemplating getting one but the D-Jab had to be had

Anyone got a picture of a 19'' Wanga? I was just wondering if it was at all "gate-like" like some larger hardtails are?!?

Also, any tips on how to ride a hardtail again (been riding a 6'' susser for 4 yrs .. should be an interesting contrast!!)

    😀

All the demo's we have at work are the 17" so can't get a pic of them, my D-jab is 20" (19" C-TT)

Just wondering also – has anyone run more than 100mm forks on a Wanga or similar?

I've been told the Reba SL's can be adjusted to 120mm you see….ta

I might be talking rubbish, but I am sure the wanga is down by about £200 in my local halfords, I think it was £650 last time I looked.

I have one and love it, but I do wish the top tube was a bit longer.

    Cheers

revs wound down to 100mm on mine, would like some white rebas, i think you could get away with 120mm, would feel a bit odd above that

Yep, I run Revelations at 130mm on mine. It was the bike What Mountain Bike? tested a couple of years or so back, though it had Vanillas @ 125mm on at that point, fine with either and a 90mm stem. I would have thought 120mm would be okay.

Here is my 18" D-Jab Ti, what a beauty she is, sometimes I just like to sit and admire her occasionally wiping little lumps of mud off 😀

I got a Voodoo Hoodoo with a 20 inch frame and i am very happy with it. It feels just like my old Kona from years ago but with lots of updated bits on. I use it for commuting and the only thing ive changed are the tyres. I swapped the knobblys with the scwalbe marathons off my Carrera. The hydraulic brakes are so sharpe i locked both wheels up doing an emergency stop behind a mad female in a car who forgot how work her indicators. It is four pounds lighter than my Carrera Vulcan LTD even though they both have the same grade aluminium frame. The air fork is good and has a remote lock out, my only grumble is than it locks the fork out too much and is a bit harsh when you run into a rough section of tarmac so i leave it unlocked and it wont dive too badly unless you give it a really big fistful of front brake and the eco friendly paint job looks nice but scratches a bit too easily. If youve only got £500 to spend on a new mountain bike id recommend The Hoodoo. It has a decent frame and all the other bits can be upgraded when they wear out.

I was so close to risking my marriage – again! – and getting a D-Jab when they were selling them off, looked too good to be true.

By the time I’d plucked up the bottle they had all gone anyway. Which was probably lucky!
