Hey all. Looking for some mounting ideas for my newly bought Virb. Used it for the first time today, I ordered a vented helmet mount with it which I used today. I’m very happy with the quality of the footage, but occasionally my helmet was tipping to one side a bit so that messes things up a bit (possibly just need to tighten helmet).
I’d like a camera angle where you can see more of the front wheel and sometimes hands. Any suggestions for this? Has anyone tried the shoulder mount? I mainly bought it with the Megavalanche for next year in mind, so I imagine it will be easier to mount it on a full face.

    Cheers.

I’ve seen reviews of the shoulder mount as a wobbly mess. I’ve used a k-edge under saddle mount for a rear view that works well and a k-edge out front mount that wasn’t so good as it veers around too much as you steer. I’ve yet to use a helmet mount as the virb is a bit of a hefty lump to stick on your head but will be giving one a go some time.

The shoulder mount is terrible. It can’t tilt very far back, so mostly points at the ground, especially when you’re descending.

Gopro mount adaptor and then use any Gopro mounting option you desire.

Anyone know of any decent handlebar mounts then?

Anyone got footage of the camera mounted on the side of a full face?

    Cheers.

I use the low profile helmet mount most of the time.

Garmin do a handlebar mount for it but pricey 24ish quid but is good as virbs aren’t the lightest…

Got my mount for 18 on one of the German sites but postage extra but as I got a new xt Bb which was way cheaper than here it worked out worth payin the postage

Is it the older Virb? I’m thinking of doing this:

Yeah just the basic Virb. Not the new XE or whatever it’s called.

I think it’s too heavy to use with the vented helmet strap, when I’m using the full face I mount it on the side and I like the results. I doubt this will work but here’s a video on FaceBook.

The Garmin handlebar mount is good,I got mine from Wiggle for a quite a bit below RRP. I have a bunch of cheap go pro mounts from china, the under saddle backwards one is also good but mostly they’re too flimsy, the Garmin mount is a really wide and stable mount.

I always try to mount it upside down though, that tends to help stabilise the hefty thing.

the helmet mount is good. I use that when snowboarding. I havent noticed the weight of the garmin, but the extra height is a nuisance when zipping through the woods. That’s a problem shared with many other cameras…

The bar mount is fine, although I need to tighten it up from time to time.

But, what about this?? http://virb.garmin.com/en-US/products/dog-harnesses Take your dog with you, and he/she could film it like a pro!
