Video Editing

NCH VideoPad is a proper NLE editor but somehow they've made it so it would literally run on a toaster, I even ran it on an old "Pentium Core2" laptop! So it works if you don't have a fairly modern PC.  It's not free, I don't condone pirating software.  But on the other hand *cough* www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovv--4jR2qY *cough*

DaVinci Resolve is also free for home use, but the free version is slow as it doesn't use the graphics card to process it.

lightworks is free isn't it? quite complicated tho

I was going to suggest iMovie but that’s on macOS and I’m guessing from the MS reference you’re on Windows?

the GoPro apps are fairly good.

Quik is good for small edit jobs, Davinci Resolve if you feel like a challenge or need something with a lot of features. Mac: iMovie perfectly fine

Yes, Shotcut for me....   colournoise sums it up nicely.

I use kdenlive. Free and open source. Lots of tools. It is a little tricky to get going but easy once you have the basics. After a short while you can do some pretty good editing.

Hello, have now got a camera for the bike and am trying to edit/ cut video for submission as fed up of idiot drivers endangering me and the kids.

Interesting - my gut feel is if you have edited the video a defence lawyer will argue it is not admissible, or at least will make you and the police jump through some significant hoops before its accepted as an accurate record of events.

May or may not be useful but if it's simply cutting the video down a bit then I have used the simple inbuilt facility within my Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet when doing same with dashcam footage. Obviously, that assumes you have a Samsung device but I suspect other devices have same.

Is it possible that you're recording in too high a resolution for the software or your pc to deal with?  You dont need 4k for example, full HD will do.

Also re editing for that purpose I seem to remember reading somewhere that you need atleast a minute before and after any incident to put it into context. Worth checking that.
