Very Long Shot: Spec of Perkins 2006-TWH Engine

Long shot.

Trying to find out more information on the Perkins 2006-TWH engines used in Class 166 locomotives.

We are fighting GWR with idling trains in Severn Beach station. GWR’s own rule state they should switch off engines after 5 minutes, they dont.

Plagued with noise and pollution.

54 hours in total a week. 3 engines per train. New schedule all the way to MAy.

Hoping to find out the gallons of diesel used per hour at idle and any info on carbon footprints.

Any links. Thoughts.

Reading that above, their rules state that they should switch off straight away if they are likely to be idle for five minutes or more, not wait five minutes and then switch them off.

Although probably best not to upset them by calling a Class 166 a locomotive.

There is a similar campaign going on at Marylebone, although their problem is with the Class 168 multiple units and more particularly the Class 68 locomotives. Maybe someone there could help you?
