Any STWers from Uppermill or ride from there? Just got the keys to the new house today and once the obligatory box shifting is done I fancy exploring my new local area…

Anybody got any routes/gpx’s or fancy taking me on a (slowish) guided tour?

    Ta very much.

    Hi David,

I’m just over the hill in Lees, ride around there quite a lot, few others on here are fairly close too.

I’m away on hols for a couple of weeks, but if you fancy a ride out in a few weeks I’ll happily put something together to suit any ability/beer preference :).

Email’s in my profile if you want to drop me a line at some point

    Cheers

    Hi David,

Happy to show you a few trail just over the hill in Marsden. though it’ll be at lead a week – mad mad busy…

Happy to join in with anything Keith arranges over that side – Uppermill (well, Saddleworth area in general) used to be my stomping ground – all day epics every Sunday, but that’s 20+ years ago so I’ve no idea if half of what we rode is still there!

    e-mail is in profile.

Although work tends to keep me away from my spiritual home these days, most of my mates still live in and around Uppermill/Diggle/Mossley/Marsden. Best bet is to pop your head in to the Cyclery in the village, Wed night rides on the MTB and if you’re partial to a bit of tarmac, road rides on Sun with the local club – Saddleworth Clarion (which is predominantly a bunch of MTBers who like to ride road as well).

Uppermill itself is pretty sparse with BW, best bet is to pick up the Pennine BW and head north or south – good riding around Denshaw and over towards Shaw and across the M62 towards Rochdale, or south towards Staly Vegas and the fringes of the Peak.

Welcome to Saddleworth, from a native living in exile!

There’s the Diggle Jiggle (http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/penninebridleway/downloads.asp?PageId=89) you’d be able to get there along the Canal, or for fun you can climb up behind Saddleworth Church and cut across towards Diggle.

As Dave said above, there’s plenty nearby or just go out and explore.
