Agreed, was looking last month to see if we could make a family weekend of it. Not happening, unless we stay miles away

Yeah, I can stay at my mum’s in Benderloch which isn’t too far away, so we can still make a weekend of it, just more driving. Shame as Glen Nevis campsite is great for the kids.

Six Day trial is on so we’ll try to catch that on the Monday, perhaps also visit Laggan, our six year old is keen to check out the new blue trails!

It seems there are other events on the same weekend / within a few days – Four Day Motorbike trial and some horse event IIRC?

I am going to the outer Hebrides that weekend and have planned to go North to South to avoid driving anywhere near Ft William or the road to.

Ah bugger, the trial being on will definitely have done some damage. Did think it seemed a bit too organised to be MTBers booking everything early!

Seems like a bit of a cock up on the part of the various organisers, surely one or all events will lose out to some extent if people can’t stay nearby. I guess SSDT doesn’t depend on spectator revenue so they’ll be OK.

2023 it was the same weekend as the British/National round and the Trials, which as that was 3 weeks before the WC was absolute chaos again then.

    What a mess!

For those that can’t get into Glen Nevis, there is that other place on the road to the venue. ‘Wild Camping’ I think the site is called. Always looks pretty good when we go past on the bus.

I was waiting to see what the ticket prices were before booking the accommodation – looks like that was a bad idea…..

Will be sticking to the TV I think.

This is the first year since I started going where I have decided not to go (covid stuff meant it wasn’t on).

Normally I would book Glen Nevis as soon as booking opened.

Spoke to a few locals (taxi drivers and pub staff) about the motorbike trials, they all say they much preffer the mtb lot, we seem to spend more.

Schedule showing semis on Quali day rather than race day. That’s a positive change

The Scottish Six Days Trial has started on bank holiday Monday for over 100 years. Since the mid ’80’s there’s been a pre-65 trial the weekend before in Kinlochleven. It’s maybe not the brightest scheduling to have the downhill on that first weekend. Unless someone thought there’s be enough interest for folk to stay over and watch both?

Woody Hole, Steve Peat, Rob Warner and plenty of others have ridden the Scottish, including probably half of Hope’s staff!

I’ve booked to go with my son, who’s really getting into biking. Just booked the Sunday, and will do it in a day. can stay in Berwick on the Saturday, but will be an early start! First time I’ve been so we’re both very excited!!

Going with my lad, he’s only five so won’t be living it up in Fort Bill at night, but did get booked on Glen Nevis for camping and I’m sure there’ll be enough folk kicking about to enjoy a beer with at the campsite.
Not sure how much more expected tickets to be, hadn’t thought about it. Now they’re out it’s probably more than I expected but on the other hand it’s the top tier of a sport that travels the world. It was never going to be cheap. I’m still going but the £40 ticket that covers age 5 to 17 seems a fair spread of age and restrictive for families with younger kids. The 0-4 age is free which is nice but maybe a 5-10 age at somewhere around £10 would help get kids there?? Or maybe I’m just a tight Northerner 🤣

Just go on the Sunday, I think our wee one would have got bored with two days. Plenty else to do, walk up to the Steal waterfall, go to the new pump track in town, visit Glenfinnan monument and Arisaig beaches etc etc

We spotted the date clash as soon as it was announced, so booked Glen Nevis as soon as booking opened – you can cancel at no cost, so no risk. They also had a 4 nights for 3 offer on.

Anyone know the deal with Friday access? It used to be free tickets & school trips were encouraged, but there is no mention of Friday tickets now.

@13thfloormonk my Mrs isn’t too keen on camping, but that’s all I could get.

Nobody makes it easy to see what is on each day at the timings on any of the pages !

Imagine if Wembly arena did the same… lots of repeat info about there being gigs on several days, but burying the details of what band is playing and when !

Is anyone else now in the same situation as us and lost their accomodation for this, after the closure of the Spean Bridge Hotel yesterday? https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/highlands-islands/6386890/spean-bridge-hotel-closed/. We’ve stayed in the chalets there for 4 or 5 visits to the world cup, it was great. Basic but great.

Two families, 8 folk in total, now looking for alternative accomodation for the Fri/Sat nights ☹️☹️

    Gutted for you a11y :(

Wher can a first time visitor find spectating info…struggling to find something definitive about shuttle buses, road closures etc

Been wondering about camping a bit further out then trying to get on some sort of bus on the day.
