No real path to victory for Trump if he loses Florida. Worth staying up another half an hour

77% in and Biden is still leading!

I hope Trump loses Florida, but he’s done better in Miami Dade than last election. That may not be a good sign.

Mail in ballots are expected to favour Biden, so my money is on Biden. Gonna be close though.

We’re at around 80% in now. What percentage are mail-ins and when do they get counted?

    Small numbers up there though

Shite New York Times has Trump at 95% to win Florida

Blimey. 80% in and Biden 0.9% ahead. Too much!!

However if 65% is in and Biden is favoured with the postals then I may just allow my heart rate to slow a tad..

It’s the other way round though. In-person (and some late postals) will be added at the end I think.

My confidence is waning. It’s getting too close in Florida.

    Biden lead down to 0.6

I can’t believe this election is even going to be close. Trump is a travesty of a president and if he gets elected again it just shows that the majority of Americans are idiots.

I feel very sorry for everyone who voted democrat..

Trump win Florida in 2016. So “effectively even” is still a decent swing towards Biden.

Not sure it is enough though. 😧

Trump has managed to get 50% more votes in a Dem. stronghold in Florida. That might be a gain. It might be because turnout is up across the board and Biden will have a proportionate increase.

Or Trump has done what he does well and get his base energized and they turned out in droves.

    How’s the heart rate now?

Not got a good feeling about this.

Already dreading waking up and looking at my phone in the morning.

I reckon the Latino machismo vote has probably scuppered Bidens chances in Florida.

Whether that translates to the other swing states remains to be seen.

Worrying that the main advert on the CNN results page is “Migrate to Canada?” 🤔

Am I too early for this?

Not writing Florida off, but I understand it to be “must-win” for Trump, as opposed to “that’d be bloody great for Biden if he wins”.

Surely – sweet baby Jesus, surely – that f***** can’t get back in…

    How’s the heart rate now?

    Higher than I would like..

However, this election will be won and lost in the rust belt. All the poll maps that showed Biden with a good chance of winning had him getting beyond 270 without winning Florida.

In short Biden can win handily without Florida, Trump had to win Florida (which it looks like he’s done). So if Trump does indeed close Florida out, he still has a hell of a long way to go in states that were polling significantly in Biden’s favour.

    Long way to go..

Biden losing Florida was always going to be an early set back – but Biden has plenty of routes to victory without Florida. Trump would have, effectively, had none. Must be gutting to have put so much effort in there and then see all the EC votes go to the other guy over a point or two victory.

Dems winning Florida is the equivalent of your team scoring 3 goals in the first five minutes – makes the rest of the match a lot more relaxing.

Shame but let’s hope it doesn’t go to penalties.

With 38% of the vote in, Biden is about 6% up in Texas! F*** you Florida!

Worth watching this and bearing in mind how the UK ended up voting for brexit.

My hope for florida is that it seems trump gained 11% from Cuban voters, but lost a similar amount from OAPs

The Cuban vote is exclusive to florida, the oap vote is not

That could be the city votes, Austin etc are pretty progressive places.

Biden is **** trump in Ohio.

You may well be right in terms of Florida. Trump polled well amongst the Latino community, particularly those of Cuban heritage. However, the rust belt states don’t have a huge Latino community (if at all in a meaningful sense) and it’s amongst suburban women and non college educated whites that he has by all accounts lost tonnes of support. The latter in the rust belt is over 50% of the electorate..

    Long way to go

    Ohio’s making me more relaxed.

Yeah I agree, you’ve gone into more detail but that’s what I was hinting at.

I’m going to bed hopeful now, north Carolina is going well and what kimbers said about Florida’s OAPs voting blue is encouraging

Amazing how screaming ‘socialism’ again and again with absolutely no evidence has made the difference in florida

Edit: not really amazing, just annoying

There are still a million votes to count in Florida. Presumably they’re onto the mail ins now.
