I think I agree that politics is changing. It’s no longer so much republican/democrat rather it is instant gratification Vs bigger picture.  The Paris climate agreement shows that.  The point of the party conventions should have been to pick an appropriate candidate for the people to vote for and the republican party failed because they wanted power for the sake of it 🙁

This is how the map’s looking. Realistically, Trump would need to flip AZ or NV and hold PA, GA, and NC to win.

Seems like Bidens lead is narrowing there.

Even our own special version of electoral f whittery always picks the people who get the most votes as the winner

not so. there have been UK elections where the party with the most votes did not win the most seats

    They do work wonders:

Did I wander into the ****ed up headline of the week thread by mistake?

It’s interesting how different news channels are braver about calling States earlier. Fox has Biden at 364 and has called Arizona for Biden. CNN are more cautious and have it 253 – 213

Yes. I’ve seen a few social media posts suggesting Biden is home and hosed; but it looks like most of the remaining states are favouring Trump

True, but (assuming he holds AZ) Biden only has to win one. Trump has to win them all.

Trump is hereby claiming victory again…

If all you have to do is claim it, why did he hold an election?

Can we claim it as the STW party? It’s painful to watch this unfold.

CNN have reported Maricopa, AZ as the gap closing further to around 70k votes, but based on what they know of the remaining votes to count Trump isn’t closing the gap fast enough.

    Squeaky bum time…..

Do all the Elctrol votes from the state go to one candidate? Or could Biden win 4 votes from Georgia?

Only 2 states split their votes. And they’ve counted enough to be called.

Yes, except Maine and Nebraska. That’s the problem with the Electoral College, if you win a state by a single vote, you get all the Electoral College votes.

Huge fan of that Paula White vid. But who is the guy with the towel and the newspaper? He makes even less sense than the MakkaPakkaRikkiTikkaTava bit.

**** space bats the lot of em.

320k votes left in AZ and Trump needs to win by 68k give or take. Quick solve of equations….. 126 Vs 194 so Trump needs 61% of the remaining.

In the supposed stronger Rep segments that closed the gap he has been getting 56-57% so the Dems are still positive.

Biden should have had this wrapped up yesterday.

If he manages to overcome such significant fraud and voter suppression, sustained propaganda from Fox and Facebook, plus an incumbent president illegally using the White House as a campaign base, it will be quite an achievement in itself.

Ok who can add a dance track to the Paula White video it’s asking for one?

We currently have no contacts still living in the US, but stumbled on a firmer colleagues FB last night where he was chatting with na group not friends over there.

They seemed to roughly split into thirds – those who thought anyone but Trump, those who seemed permanent Democrats and those who genuinely thought Trump had done them some good – seemed to be mainly small and medium business owners who’d benefited from tax breaks, taken on staff etc.

No one was ranting or rude, genuinely interesting to see their opinions and experiences shared.

At what point do the elders of the GOP step in and tell Trump to stop being a ****? Can they even – I see some (moderate and less so) Senators have already come out and said that votes must all be counted but do they or anyone else have any control over his legal challenges for example? Particularly with the potential for them to forment trouble – after all they have to try to get re-elected in 4 years time even if he doesn’t.

As a follow up and assuming Biden wins….the handover is not until early next year. Could / would Trump poison the well in the meantime out of spite, as his parting gift. You’d imagine no honourable person would but then you think who we’re talking of. How much executive power does he retain for the next 3 months?

All of it. convention is that the president does not do anything radical in that time but just keeps things ticking over but thats all it is – convention. Trump may well leave scorched earth behind him

    thats my understanding

He’s a star and surprisingly unmoved by all that supernatural going on around him. I think DT will be advised to not melt down if he loses, keep his cool and he can stand again in 4 years time. When and if he calms down, he will be quietly removed. The worry must be if he makes more speeches against the advice then more bullets will fly. A bigly moment in American history.
