Thanks Inkster. Super succinct but coupled with the Marina Hyde article deeply troubling.

Poops,Trump didn’t write the textbook for fascism, the Republican party has spent the last 40 years writing it…… /Snip
I agree with all the points you made there.
Saying I am happy we at least don’t have a gun issue is just such little consolation isn’t it?Christ, what a mess.
As usual, where America goes we follow.
martinhutchFull MemberI felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of bots suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

TheDTsFree MemberI think Twitter policy was to allow world leaders accounts. I sounds like they may have reviewed this policy.
martinhutchFull MemberBeen removed by the nsa., makes you think eh?
It’s almost as if it was full of people openly plotting sedition and posed a national security risk. Will be off Apple Store and Google Play fairly shortly, I imagine.
There’s always TikTok, LinkedIn or Tinder if Donald needs to get noticed.

Now Parler is down…..All of it? I’m too scared to go look, I’d have to antibac my mobile afterwards.
somafunkFull MemberIt’s easy to be glib and offer little more than mere scorn of trump on this thread but I’ve been browsing through the investigative Twitter threads as they examine the pics/videos of the failed capital hill coup and there’s a number of the folk identified who are ex military with current security clearance – The investigation into this failed coup will be hopefully far reaching as I imagine the fbi will want to come out of this with something to show for their efforts, and as a very sobering aside I saw the tweet below, naming and showing the officer who died, two tours of duty in Afghanistan and he is beaten to death with a fire extinguisher due to the lies of the sitting president
This is Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick who died after he was attacked by rioters. He was 42 pic.twitter.com/z1iYVL2Lf2

Interesting read by Fivethirtyeight on why the lack of police response wasn’t an aberration
kelvinFull MemberHmm. Officer killed by the people who he incited. And now it’s clear he was still pushing for the election to be overturned even while the Capitol was being attacked. You can see why he ended up reading that pre written speech… he’s trying to avoid jail now, isn’t he.
As riot raged at Capitol, Trump tried to call senators to overturn election https://t.co/U3n5HluRdz

inksterFree MemberKelvin,
Given that Trump was phoning senators trying to get them to continue the obstruction whilst they were cowering under their desks I think we can actually say, and perhaps legally prove he was holding them hostage. The implication is that he was suggesting that he will send out a tweet to call the mob off if the senators acquiesce to his demands.
Remember he tweeted ‘stay calm’, not ‘stand down’.thus keeping the senators trapped as he applied the pressure. Remember also that he refused to call out the National Guard, something Pence allegedly did whilst under siege.
thols2Full MemberThis is why USG officials are required to use official accounts, so that they can't use government resources to build followings and then take it with them. Nikki Haley broke State Department's rules on this as UN Ambassador and had to forfeit her account & 1.7M followers.

somafunkFull MemberAaaaaand Twitter has now just shut down the official WhiteHouse @potus Twitter account as he couldn’t keep his frantic stubby thumbs from tweeting further lies and bullshit, give him a speak & spell to keep him amused for the next 12days

somafunkFull MemberNow the @teamtrump Twitter account is banned as well, I hope the nuclear codes are well away from his reach
Twitter tells @b_fung that it has banned Trump’s @teamtrump campaign account because the president tried tweeting there tonight after his own account was banned and his attempted tweets were swiftly deleted from the government @POTUS account.

inksterFree MemberI just visited Andrew Sullivan’s Twitter feed, he’s one of the Dougls Murray, Niall Ferguson types with a huge profile based in America.
Fascinating to see that his posts are full of identity politics, Marxist this, communism that anti BLM guff right up umtill the 6th January. Then He sees the footage of the police quietly ushering in rioters, taking selfies with them and politely holding the door open for them as they leave and he has an epiphany,
On the 7th January he posts this:
“These are domestic terrorists. I believe in order. I do NOT believe in selectively enforcing order only on leftist rioters. This is a shocking scandal. It validates much of the BLM argument, I concede”
Seems that on Pennsylvania Avenue he’s suddenly found his road to Damascus. He is very influential so I’m wondering if we will start to see some back pedalling from some of his Spectator and Telegraph friends. They all look up to him as a bit of a guru.
Still….What a c***.
To quote Mitt Romney (again) “YOU DID THIS”
thols2Full MemberAndrew Sullivan is an anti-Trump conservative. He’s a critic of the Woke left, that hasn’t changed. He’s also a critic of the fascist right. I don’t agree with a lot of what the anti-Trump conservatives believe, but they deserve some respect for standing up for democracy since Trump arrived on the scene years ago. They didn’t just flip to being lefties after seeing the mob storm the Capitol this week.
This is an archive of Sullivan’s opinion pieces, he’s never been a Trump apologist. He’s never going to have an epiphany and become a leftist.
piemonsterFree MemberPlease let Parler being down both true and permanent
Take TheDonald and 4chan with it.
HounsFull MemberI thought parler was a site set up by the nsa/fbi, set it up as a right wing honey pot and you’ll have all those nutters in one place discussing their thoughts and plans, easy to monitor
leffeboyFull Memberparler the website appears to be up. I think it is only new copies of the app that can’t be downloaded
piemonsterFree MemberI see the Pelosi desk guy has been arrested by the FBI. I wonder how the poor maced women that was just there for rebellion is feeling right now?
thols2Full MemberInteresting interview about the police failure.

MoreCashThanDashFull MemberI fear that nothing will happen in terms of impeachment or the 25th with just 2 weeks to go. GOP just wants him gone in normal time, the Dems can’t force it.
I pray that Pence has got him on final warning/national suicide watch. His frustration at losing his social media outlets will make him lose his mind and more and more desperate. I hope that the nuclear codes are well secured – from talk from the military chiefs, they’ve probably quietly issued orders to ignore anything from the President.
All those state, federal and IRS investigators need to be ready to hit him with charges on 21st, or he’ll start the “poor me, all out to get me” message. His followers need to see how vile and corrupt he is. Bidens administration need to keep a long arms length from the investigations.
And American media needs to be challenging all his Republican enablers.
My mum was gloating at his fall from grace this week. Then keen to get on to one of these new UK Fox style channels. I’m wondering about starving her into submission while she shields ahead of her vaccination and is relying on me to do her shopping? (Joking!)
SuperficialFree MemberChillingly I hadn’t realised Trump’s last tweet about not going to the inauguration (+blah blah 75,000,000 votes, blah patriots) was actually probably another dog whistle to the #mealteamsix. “I won’t be there. You know what to do.” Which is why he was permabanned.
They’re gonna have to have MFing Captain America at the inauguration.
Hilarious – can you imagine the rage from Trump?
Probably about 15 times every hour when he momentarily forgets he’s been banned, picks up his phone to tweet something, then realises. It’s such a perfect mental image.
thols2Full MemberI fear that nothing will happen in terms of impeachment or the 25th with just 2 weeks to go. GOP just wants him gone in normal time, the Dems can’t force it.
There will be a whole bunch of GOP senators thinking that, if he’s impeached and convicted, he will not be able to run for any public office again. There’s a good chance he will want to run again in 2024, and no GOP politician wants that, but they are too chickenshit to say it out loud. They will be calculating whether it’s better to just get one difficult vote over with, or to hope he somehow disappears on his own.
On top of that, some of Trumps loyal followers are apparently confused about why he didn’t send in the military to arrest Nancy Pelosi, etc. once the insurrection began. He told people to turn up and they thought he was going to actually launch a coup. Now that he’s issued a half-arsed concession, they feel betrayed. The GOP senators might be willing to take the chance of finishing him off if they think his support is wavering. Now that he’s lost his Twitter and Facebook accounts, he’s going to be much easier to just ignore.
thols2Full MemberDonald Trump, please take up cycling so @Strava can ban you too.

wonder if the orange agent will make him an offer for his account
nukeFull MemberSuch a simple act but permanently banning Donnie from Twitter will damage & anger him than anything else that’s come before…Twitter is everything to Donnie and I just cant see there being any other platform available for him to let him so easily communicate to tens of millions. He’s going to struggle to connect to his base & rally the troops (for 2024) without it and it could actually be the beginning of the end for him politically. Would Donnie have got as far as he got without Twitter? I just hope a permanent bans genuinely means a permanent ban.
csbFree MemberThe reason republicans want him banned from standing again is because he’d do so in his own name, splitting the right’s vote.

A lot of his ‘supporters’ are right wing anarchists/conspiracy theorists who wanted to overthrow the US government (Republican or Democrat) long before Trump was elected, last Weds he stood on a stage and incited them to do exactly that, giving the impression that he would be there with them. Trump has either overestimated his influence over some of the nut jobs he’s incited or overlooked their real views as it suited his own personal interests. The genie is out of the bottle and they won’t just back down, and now he’s said they were wrong to do it I’d be surprised if a lot of them don’t turn on him and his family as well
stumpyjonFull Memberlot of them don’t turn on him and his family
Painted a massive target on his back now, I’d be more worried about the nut jobs with guns than the 25th, impeachment or IRS if I was him.
