They’re all over ebay, you basically plug your internet into them and stream live TV legally to your TV.

Are you not providing a link on purpose?

stream live TV legally to your TV

Assuming you have a TV license, of course.

    legally

    😆

i assume you mean something like this

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEST-MXQ-QUAD-CORE-TV-Box-Android-IPTV-HD-Stream-Movies-Sports-NG-FREE-SUPPORT-/321714735295?hash=item4ae7b148bf

they are very good and work very well, but they are in no way legal

pros are they’ll come loaded with all you need to stream movies/sports illegally

cons are they’ll come loaded with all you need to stream movies/sports illegally

(depending on your viewpoint of course)

Most are just rooted android boxes with Kodi/XBMC loaded with the genesis or something similar. Nothing legal about the way they stream, but they do also let you stream free TV channels as well, which is I’m sure what most people use them for . . .

    Ok, no stuffy answer.

What channels are you after, be honest now, as if it’s just the main UK ones then it’s not a good option. They are usually hacky versions of Android, and the hardware is pretty basic. There are better options to stream BBC1/ITV/CH4 etc like Chromecast, FireTV, NowTV, Roku etc.

If you are wanting premium channels, without the premium, then even then I think they are rubbish. Quality of streams is suspect, source of streams is wholly dependent on others maintaining them. There are better, maybe not cheaper, options out there.

Sky Sports, Sky Atlantic (not a big issue as most stuff is downloadable) is that a word?
    Movies, again downloadable.

Premier Sports for NRL would be a bonus, but I pay for Premier player so again, not a huge thing.

It looks like you can get iplayer and other ‘normal’ channels on there though?

What other better options are there? A lad from work pays £8 monthly to somehow pay for someones connection for a different kind of box and that behaves more like a sky or virgin box.

Is not being able to record stuff a big issue?

Was your use of the word “legal” in the OP a mistake ?

Firstly, OP, I don’t think legal means what you think it does. Secondly, speak to the lad at work. He’ll have a Skybox/Openbox by the sound of it…..also, I imagine this thread is not long for this world given the content.

Think I’ll look into how ‘legal’ they actually are before moving on then!

    Cheers.

Maybe you could just pay for it instead of stealing it?

I have one like dirtyrider has linked. It works very well for streaming from the main on demand services. As for streaming from other questionable resources I have no idea. *cough* But I’d imagine they’d work pretty good most of the time.

They don’t all come ready some need extra software installed.

I am paying for it at the moment.

But your planning on streaming it from an crap quality box/feed illegally, instead of using good quality, reliable and legal method you are already paying for ?

    I don’t think I understand

I was only asking about something I didn’t know much about Neal, sorry if that offends you so much.

    Not offended in the slightest.

Just didn’t understand why you would use one of those if you already pay for a subscription to all the channels you want ?

    jonnytheleyther

To save money and I’m not satisfied with the customer service I’ve recieved from Sky

    nealglover

Righto. So your use of the word legal was a mistake then.

You can’t possible think that streaming subscription only content for free is legal.

If you don’t care, that’s fine, fill yer boots.

I only asked as you said it was legal.

If you have an old laptop lying around then you can stick Linux on it and the same programs that the boxes offer all for free.
Thats what I am going now, only its not quite as easy with Linux as it is for Windows.

Yes it was, I didn’t know. I’ve decided against it now I know it’s not legal.
