If they can't spell 'Pack' are they going to read the address right, that's what I'd be asking myself….

spot the arrow in the 'fedex' logo – once you've seen it you'll never look at a fedex logo the same again.

This thread is like a soap opera – only more interesting. I find my self checking in on it just to see how things are going and to see if there are any new pics. Strangley enough i'm not even in the market for a light. Unless there is a head mounted running light in the pipeline…

Oh i was checking on it all the time when i knew i was in the running, you will all love this light, drivers don't but you all will. 😆

Actually it reminds me when i bought my lumi se when they first came out nothing was like them so everyone on the road didn't know what in hell i was, made for some amusing moments.

Gary-m that is plain cruel, i can't stop staring at the thing when i see the logo, you git. 😆

I've been gradually swaying the bike radar lot onto this light as i am the resident led guru, least i think i am, no light has impressed me in years not even the lupine betty which i though was meh given it's reputation.

+1 for helmet mounted version – best place for a light.

A helmet mount would be a very welcomed addition for me as well, although i would have to buy a 2.5dc extending cable for it to reach the jersey pocket.

    Trout anything in the pipeline?

Also when the s2 or better gets released over time can i send it your way for an upgrade?

Cheers & sorry for being a lazy ass

Whats your latest thoughts on the postage strikes Chris.
Have you considered using someone other than the post office?
Would it be much more expensive? etc etc etc.

Don't know about anyone else, but if it comes to it, I'm happy to pay a bit extra for the postage to use a courier rather than Royal Mail.

This is helmet mountable: there are a couple of slots in the bottom edges of the lights that take a velcro strap that should go through helmet vents (will work best iof you have a centre ridge rather than centre hole in your helmet). Some might say it is a bit heavy for helmet mounting which I think is partly the reason that the baby trout 4 LED version was created.

yes it is a carry over from the MK 1 which worked real well on my helmet but not so well on a few others

a couple of slots take a 300 mm long velcro strap and once you have it sorted direction wise it is ace but the 4 led ikkle Trout with adjustable mount is probably better .

Do batteries needs to be charged then discharged a few times before use to get full burn time out of them?

    Chris

Payment sent yesterday via paypal inc postage but John climber is picking them up off you on Sat.
Can you confirm you have the payment for mine?

    Hi JC.
The batteries are shipped approx 50% charged so can be used straight away, but ideally best put on the charger for 100% charge.
They do not need to be cycled a few times, but best left at a 50% state of charge if their not going to be used for long periods of time.

I'd be happy to pay a bit extra for postage if the problem with the post office carries on. There are three of us from where i work who have ordered one each. Maybe you could send them all together by courier?

I fail to see how people are working themselves up into a public wankathon about a home brew light.

How will his light unit (no battery) be any better than the complete DX light. How much light does an AVERAGE rider of a bicycle need in he woods with his mates?

    No Prob

the A is the Posative and C Negative

It's because we're all above "AVERAGE". Stay in your "AVERAGE" world if you want to.

    Hi Mr Trout,
Hope you got my plug, am I one of the next batch? Looked at the battery and the female socket attached to the battery is colour matched i.e. red to red and black to black. My electronics knowledge may be a bit ropey but I believe that would make the red on the plug to positive.

    Cheers,
    Stuart.

Well my wait is over, called over to see Chris this afternoon and collected my light and a happy man I am too.

Chris also lent me a baby trout helmet jobbie to try out as well.

I have to say in the flesh the lights are even better than I thought, the amount of design and detail are superb.

So am now off to Mabie with the mickey mouse mountaineering club and York mountaineering lot for what I hope will be a great weekend.

So look out for a wheezy middle aged bloke of a stupidly bright orange orange 5 and I'll pop the lights in my pack if you want a look/try.

Also a few "in field" pics as well when I get back on Monday.

Already spoken to Graham g (justme) and a few more trials of the baby trout will take place next week because his carving knife is away.

    Hats off Troutie !

Just a couple of questions, i presume they are wired in series so like this. +-+-+-+-

Also what adhesive do you use trout, artic alumina, im guessing so you can still remove the emitters should you have to?

Im asking as i've been dabbling for a while and fancy knocking up a project at some point, possibly use a lipo pack with a good balance charger, possibly a turnigy.
