Trail centre cheapskates

Some folk on here need to climb off of their very tall horses –

I've paid already for access to FC trail-centres, through working all work. I don't smoke, drink to excess, call the police, get n trouble with the law, etc and so on. (Therefore no drain on the public kitty)

I have the right to access an FC trail-centre on a weekend or any other day for that matter to ride my bike which (which i paid tax on), drive there (which I have paid tax on the fuel to get me there), etc, etc.

Tax, tax and more tax, come on lets all show our agreement for another effin tax.

I suggest that these folks pay in lieu if they don't want to stump up hard cash. Perhaps the air in their tyres could be a suitable charge…

If you dont want to pay to ride at trail centrtes, or FC land where a lot of hard work has gone into producing 'trails', why not get o n your bike at your front door and ride from there? Rather than spending money on fuel etc to get your there and moan about spending the price of a Ginsters on parking?

Dalby and hamsterly arent really trail funding charges they are forest road tolls. With hamsterly I'd rather pay a trailblazers sub so I know my money is going to bike trails. Normally I ride in from Teesdale. Dalby, just thought the charge was far far too steep but there again it is a road toll (punter cake hunter car sleeper tax). On the plus side for the area its sooo steep I'd rather stay for the weekend and cycle in and out than pay money which I dont feel will go towards trails or bike related developments.

Agreed it'd make more sense to charge for access to the trails than for parking but that's not as practical.

Well i'm not a charity, I pay my taxes, so if there is somewhere legal, convenient, and free to park of course i'll park there. However if there isn't I'll park in the carpark and if it charges then I'll pay.

Am I correct in thinking that the FC can do naff all if you don't pay anyway – along the lines of the thread about avoiding parking fines in Aldi…

I cannot believe the folk that think it is reasonable to go to a trail centre and not pay the modest fee for using it – even if it is disguised as a parking charge.

I cant believe people will pay for a sodding carpark when there are free spaces on the road nearby! Dam my car is taxed so I will park it where I wish, within the law of course.
Yes I'm tight, I didnt get to where I am today financially by wasting money.

this annoys me at whilatter at the end of the north loop is a little parking area that has space for around 5 cars, was always used before the route was put in, but if no space there people either paid to park at vc or used one of the 4 free car parks available, one of which is all of 200metres from the main car park. Often now whe i go up there will be 10 -15 cars parked along the verge on both sides of the road at the end of the north loop. Nearly always bikers and the verge has been destroyed. Pay the £6, buy a year pass, or use one of the 4 free car parks avail. Or better still park at the bottom of the pass, ride up, do the routes and then ride the lovely BW bac down

You can park anywhere on the road at Whinlatter, there are no parking restrictions. What's the problem?
