Oddly, the fixed camera is an asset. When everything is happening out of shot, but you can still hear the kid crying after the donkey has gone through it builds up up some suspense, and that tension is instantly broken again when the ostrich is kicked back into shot. 😀

I think I'm laughing because of the increasingly bizarre series of incidents, and the incongruity of it. There's also a good deal of pure slapstick.

Agreed that I'm not sure I'd stage either the hunting of children with ostriches or extreme ostrich fighting as forms of comedy in themselves. But the same goes for much "you've been framed" type stuff. 🙂

Thing is, if you phrase it as "how would you like to be chased by an ostrich while riding your pony? eh? eh? You wouldn't, would you?" it immediately becomes obvious that there is some potential for the situation to be amusing… 😉

I love the way the little horse keeps increasing it's pace as it looks round and sees the bird gaining ground on it.

I kept hoping for the donkey to reappear from the RHS and grin into the camera!

I suppose it might have been funnier if the ostrich had disembowelled the kid and it got a loop of intestine tangled round its legs so that when it was fighting the bloke it kept tripping over, and when it falls it jerked the intestine and the kid's liver flew out and hit an anteater in the face, and the anteater fell into a swimming pool…

And anyway, if your child was thrown from a pony, clearly very distressed, and then potentially in harms way from attack by a large flightless bird, like **** would you stand about laughing. You'd be right in there, setting your killer dog on it, and booting the **** out of it, admit it. You know I'm right…

I'd find it funny if you fell off your bike and started crying though. I'd stand there and point and laugh in a cruel and unkind manner.

Mind you, for you to fall off your bike would mean you'd have to be riding it a bit faster than walking pace, or actually sat on it down hills instead of pushing it and crying like a little girl, which isn't very likely…. 😉

Just watched it again….comedy gold. The donkey's timing is impeccable.

Well I watched it twice – then again with sound (to see if the sound was the "funny" bit).
It wasn't.

I don't think it's funny – but then I don't think it's funny when my own children are scared either.

I'm clearly in a minority here – but that's fine. I like minorities.
