It feels like dunking a witch

What other obsolete things do you occasionally indulge yourself in?

I used to create nostalgia threads on web forums. Of course back then we called them bulletin boards, and oddly they were more feature rich than STW.

180mph on public roads on 1000cc bikes…. I think back now with a slight shudder of “WTF were you thinking boy”

I still recall an overtake on my Ducati 916 where a mate was about to get held up on the A5 by a car ahead, so i went the opposite way around a 200m central reservation at 160+ ! It was slightly ropey to say the least !

Loading cd changer in car. (has Bluetooth audio as well)

    Writing a cheque.

Using the landline to make a call.

Using the laptop to surf the Internet.

Unlocking the car with a key (flat keyfob battery)

    That’s my recent experiences

I just used a pen and paper to play hangman with my eldest although when i was a lad we never had a sheet of paper about so we would use the back of a leftover roll of wallpaper.

    Nine!

Jesus, my Daughter slept in till 07:30 this morning, I woke up in a panic I was going to miss my flight – I don’t even have any flights booked for today or any other day, I rarely fly – wtf?

Anyway, yes – when I was a teenager – Friday night Pub home for 1am (because I’m not nuts) Saturday work 8-4 Disco Nap, Pub / Club till 4am Sunday – sleep till 1pm, doze and watch T4 / black and white film till 6pm – Gym to sweat out all the booze and drugs. Monday – look like it never happened.

Nowadays, Friday night mong in a post working week haze, bed for 10pm up at 6 – do Dad stuff all day, Saturday night 3-4 beers maybe as much as 3 pints worth! Put to bed by the Wife because outcome uncertain if left to my own devices – up at 6pm – Bike to sweat out all the stress and acidic flavour of computers from my mind.

Yeah but we pronounce it as ‘Hey-Zeus’ like they do in Central America and aggressively correct anyone who doesn’t get it right.

Watty – in a similar style, the first time we went to Glastonbury (89) we only decided we were going, after someone suggested it in the pub on Thursday night. We drove down Friday morning and paid on the gate.

it was full of proper crusty hippies and dangerous scousers, and absolutely nobody called Tabatha from Notting Hill 😀

The other week me and Mrs Binners had an actual game of Scrabble, on an actual Scrabble board, not Words With Friends on an Iphone

Jeez man, you’ve only just married her, it should take years until the marriage hits that kind of low.

I still regularly watch DVD’s and BluRays! I even have a LoveFilm subscription as I hate it when streaming occasionally drops the quality for a few seconds 👿

In the last few weeks I have:

Helped a neighbour set the valve clearances on his old Metro using feeler gauges.
Set up a bike with cantilevers and thumbies.
    Played a cassette.
Bought a CD in a shop.
Used a landline phone at my parent’s house.

    Oh and this:

Listening to olderpeople talk about the old days, and then suddenly realise im starting to become one of those older people talking about the old days.
