As to the long marriage, there’s an element of dumb luck landing with someone who remains easy to live with over the long term, along with all the other stuff above.

I only voice an opinion if I’m bothered about the outcome, the rest of the time it’s a “yes dear”.

I like to think I’m keeping my powder dry, it’s probably cowardice in reality.
