Don’t watch that much TV but the cringe factor is worth it…

    SUGAR

classic quote already, cant see this guy lasting long..

Alex Epstein: He says: ‘Be different. When everyone is zigging, you should zag.

    tosser!

not as bad as the irish girl last year “I am probably thebest sales person in EUROPE”

The zig zag thing is paraphrasing something Warren Buffet or George Soros said on investment if my memory serves.

I’d guess that a fair proportion of the contestants should be making around £100k already from what they say they’re doing for a living. Seems very odd to step out of a decent wage for the chance of £100k and selling whatever tat Sugar’s bought the license for. Unless there’s a bit of impression management going on, and they’re actually clueless. But that doesn’t happen every single year, does it now? 😆

😆 I ride when I can, but you can’t be out all the time.

I recently cut my TV package down to the minimum and started working my way through DVD box sets from Amazon. Doing the Shield at the moment. Cheap DVD boxsets is the way forward I tells ya.

Mrs North will be glued to this.

I shall glue myself to the turbo trainer instead or go night riding or read a book or write a story or take up running or sewing or anything but watch that t*t Sugar “lord” it over some self serving tosspieces. Grr.

Must remember to slit my wrists. Another great piece of TV.

In terms of commercial sense, the concept is so not Reality TV … but that’s probably the appeal to a lot of people who 1) work in similar fields/industries and have a better idea of how things are done, or 2) don’t work in anything like their environment and haven’t a clue.

Either way, it can be good viewing, but can also be complete b0ll0cks.

BTW, one of my mates (whom I’ve thought for years would be suited to giving it a go), got from 50,000 down to the last 40. Mid 20’s, owns 5 or more properties, and made his money in recruitment. Shame he didn’t get on – would’ve been a right laugh.

There have been two vaguely employable candidates so far – that’s it. The rest are just utter sh1te.

Any sales/management type that’s any good will be on over £100k anyway.

The quality (credibility) of the candidates has really dropped off with the last few series.

The programme makers have gone for the predictable, but actually quite dull, route of selection based on appearance and attitude, rather than aptitude (ie looks and will they kick off with other contestants).

Can’t say that there has been much beyond youthful, inexperienced bulls#ters over the last two years.

    Dire

A few better looking women than last year, Stella English and Laura Moore both look quite hot to me.

One of the guys, Jamie the estate agent, is married to one of the women at work. We are all waiting for the inevitable car crash tv.

One of his quotes “to make an omelette you need to break some eggs…” Oh my god!!!! 🙄

I can see some of the ‘Epic Forum Battlers’ from here fitting in well on The Apprentice.

How many times is “Raw Business Acumen” going to be mentioned?

    Surf-Mat
    Free Member

    Or “Raw sales talent?”

Almost all the candidates that claim to have epic sales skills are actually just irritating squawkers that would be able to sell me nothing – ever.

Having been in the world of sales (and PR) for years, I’ve seen it all. And the ones that make me cringe are just like those on the Apprentice.

How long till we have our very own STW apprentice type thing for the keyboard warriors?

    Ron – what’s the prize?

A BMW 120d, an “executive” new build on an estate, a Tag watch and a Ted Baker suit?

    Perfect. Count me in.

I’d pay to watch that – “STW Apprentice – Epic Battle.”

Mat – you forgot a top of the range carbon, XTR/XX equipped (heck, maybe even Yumeya) bike. To leave in the garage obviously, not ride!

Hell I’ll even throw in a (far too big for purpose) camelbak, full of stuff you don’t need or use on a ride

Another classic is when some of the younger candidates try and make up for there lack of talent and experience by describing themselves as “A blank canvas”…

I think an Audi of some description with daytime running lights would be a more suitable prize.

This is just big brother with suits, isn’t it? No one watches this shit any more surely?

    Anyone watch the Junior Apprentice?

The candidates knocked the spots (and some were spotty) off most of the **** in the adult version of the show.

Looking forward to next weds though. Proper “Mental Chewing gum” TV. I love Sugar’s constant air of dis-belief at how badly the lunatics sat in front of him in the boardroom each week have managed to monumentaly screw up a simple task.

Gachet – or one of those. Preferably an A3/A4 2.0TDI S-Line.

Purist – might be aiming a bit high – these boys and girls are on the up, not at the top 😉

Same here mate, although I don’t think either of us at the ripe old age of mid-30’s can quite say we’ve seen it all … but I know what you mean.

Then again, could you imagine a re-make of the show with uber-talented altruistics skilled in “proper” solution sales actually being watchable? Probably not …

It’s TV that so bad it’s good. I’d never watched it until recently but found myself turning on each week to see how they could screw it all up.
It does bug me though that it’s all about sell sell sell.

This is very funny though. 🙂

Paloma is a 29-year-old senior marketing manager from London. She is Peruvian and has worked all over the world before coming to the UK to fulfil her childhood dream of getting a job in Brentwood.

    Brentwood? BRENTWOOD??

    High ambitions there, then.

    More (watchable!) car-crash TV.

Oh, and Strictly’s back – pretty girls in short dresses: love it!

And Autumnwatch should be around shortly.

The long dark evenings won’t be sooo bad…

Well a few predictions for the new series:-
Despite the fact the apprentice has been on for 5 or more years, so the competitors should know what to expect, one team will make an ‘arty farty’ ad campaign, which lord sugar will hate.
The competitor that bulls**t the most about being the “best” sales person in the group will make the least money in the selling task.
