So I’m settling in for the night, warming myself up with some election night West Wing, and maybe ‘A Very British Coup’ – breaking for the exit poll, then tuning back in around 11:30 for the fist results.

Just caught up on Ballot Monkeys.

I have coffee, pizza, booze and cheese. And tomorrow off work.

Anyone else going the whole hog?

Sunderland, First to declare, Labour Hold.

I’ve just saved you a bit of TV time, right there 🙂

Yeah, Sunderland seem a likely shoe in, shame it’s getting so predictable.

I’d like someone to pip them to it, give the night an early sense of unpredictability.

So when will we know the final result by?

Does it need a SPOILER alert in the thread title. 😉

Worth going in with predictions here?

I’m calling on an unexpected 300 seats for conservatives

No way I’m taking tomorrow off work. The plan is to fall asleep about 11ish on the settee with the help of booze*, wake up about 2ish, watch the results, then go to bed about 4ish when it should be clear what is happening.

    *that’s a normal night anyway.

Bed at 10, up at 3, off to work at 7.

I have a hunch that the pollsters have misjudged it, just not sure in which direction.

I’m sticking with my predictions on the main election thread:

Tories largest party, but only by half a dozen or so.
Libdems to do slightly better than expected – 35 seats or so.
    Clegg to lose his seat
SNP to gain all but a handful of seats in Scotland
    UKIP to collapse
Labour/Libdem minority coalition + support from greens/PC/SDLP (based mostly on Clegg losing his seat)
Cameron/tories to whinge and whine like spoilt school children and an unedifying attempt to cling on to power.

Do we need another thread BTW?

    Well that clears it up.

    Pretty much agree with Dazh.
Think tories will get a majority, but reduced.
Libdems to do better than expected.
Still not ruling out Labour trying to steal the show by linking up with SNP “in the interests of the country”.

    I’m going for:
Tories largest party, by 15 seats
Libdems to do slightly better than expected – 35 seats or so.
    Clegg, Farage to lose.
SNP to gain all but a handful of seats in Scotland, Murphy, Alexander and the Ginger Rodent to lose.
    UKIP to collapse
Labour to ask SNP to form some sort of confidence and supply arrangement.
Cameron/tories to throw the toys out of the pram and occupy Downing Street.
Second Election before the end of the year.

I think Clegg will cling on but only just, but otherwise I think the above may have it, last minute small swing to the torys but not enough to put them over, just give them an edge. UKIP might hold 1 of their existing seats.

Greens probably to stay at 1 seat, maybe – just maybe a 2nd.

    1 hour to exit poll.

I predict it ends with Sturgeon strapped to a wooden hurdle and dragged though the streets to Smithfield, screaming some nonsense about freedom.

To kill some time before the exit polls can anyone tell me what happens if you don’t put your ballot paper in the box and try to leave the polling station with it? Can’t seem to find the answer online.

That’s an interesting point. Say that one party gets 325 or whatever number is needed given that Sinn Fein dont send their MPs to Westminster – does the biggest party lose one MP when the speaker is selected?

    scotroutes

Does the speaker have to come from one of the two largest parties?

Edit: just checked and that’s a no. They need enough votes for a nomination and some of those votes have to come from a different party to the nominee. So, we could have a SNP speaker 😆

Speaker votes with the government whatever party he belongs to if a tie, so having a speaker diminishes the party numbers.

    My prediction:

    Tory 280
    Labour 274
    SNP 38
    Lib Dem 35
    UKIP 1
    Green 1
    Others 21

eventual gov: labour/liberal coalition with SNP support.

Rutherglen should declare early(1.30/2am), which will be interesting in what will happen in Scotland, ultra safe labour seat(where i’m from and moving back to in a couple of weeks), if the SNP take that expect a landslide in scotland! I doubt they will though, be interesting to see how close it is though..

Balls if i’m staying up though, I’ll set my alarm early! 😆

The red army Debate Me! Debate Me! One to one! Hell yes! becomes the new PM which spells the doom for UK for generations to come. The union is split into various fractions and Russia establish their first ever base in Plymouth 😆

    Exit Poll:

    Tory 316
    labour 238
    SNP 58
    Liberal 10
    UKIP 2
    Green 2

    I reckon that’s aways out.
