Anthony, I got the Laser Comp a few years ago at such a good deal the weight saving to pounds spent wasn’t worth it plus it’s bright red.

I’ve been strapping the bike together and will get the whole thing up later this week.

Just cos you’re not coming 😉

Anyway, I’m still waiting to see your ultra-minimal setup?

I see you have been gained a few your PHD loyalty points then Ian 😉 Did you buy the sleeping bag then use the discount buying the vest?!

The 900 down is pretty special eh.

No, because by the time you factor in 2 lots of £10 postage, I’d only have saved £3.80…

Yes, pleased with them. The vest is nice, plus I can fit in a small, so it doesn’t weigh so much 😀
Bag has come out a tiny bit “heavy” though – 360g.

bum missed page 10 🙁 I really wanted it too, damn you flatfish and your page stalking.

Suppose I ought to get my finger out and start planning a route, will cross-reference it to the camra guide to ensure there are no missed opportunities for lunch stops….

    360g in it’s stuff sack? 😉

I found the £10 postage hard to swallow on a vest that is only just over the weight a first class stamp should cover!!

I’m looking forward to seeing the Wildcat kit in the flesh, I’ll have to look you out to say hi. I’ll be on a tatty Lynskey 26″ SS if you spot me (the white titus has been rebuilt for something with a little more load space!).

360g without stuff sack – 372g with it. Shocking isn’t it?

Wildcat stuff – would be a pleasure. I’ll be the one with a Ti singlespeed and funny looking bars, Beth will be the one with a very young baby…

Have you had Beth slim down the stuff sack yet? You could claw back a gram or two there!

I use the stuff sack from the vest instead which is a perfect size. If they do actually colour code them, the sleeping bag was neon green/black and the vest one is red/black?

The Ultra vest stuff sack is tiny. No chance of fitting the Ultra bag in there.
I pack the vest, bag, base layer and socks in a 4 litre Alpkit airlok dry bag anyway.

Feel free to pick holes in all that

    Whisky?

    Whisky?

Good observation. I’m inclined not to bother actually. Being a billy-no-mates, its not all that much fun sipping single malt on a Welsh hillside if you’ve got no-one to share it with, plus it’ll save me 200g 😉

You wouldn’t be on your own long … some of these lot will smell it from miles away and come flocking 😉

Oh yes, a nice single malt, definately… well worth the weight..

I’d have put on that makeup that Molgrips uses so I could hide, and if that didn’t work fend them off with the big knife. That’ll be even more weight…

has anyone had any revelate stuff delivered recently, i had heard before ordering they can be a mare but my order placed early feb has still not turned up and not looking too good for the end of the month. too late to order anything else before WRT as well now 🙁

no route planned i think i’ll just make it up as i go along tbh.

I was out at weekend with some people who are waiting on Revelate seat packs coming … they’ll be flying out to the US for the TD in 2 weeks.

Took about 4 months for mine to arrive.
Ordered first week in Jan, arrived last week of April.
Not the speediest and I believe Jeff is even slower.

Great news for Wildcat this, Ian get Beth’s sewing machine whirring 😀

    Anthony

    Purring surely?

I agree, it is a perfect oportuntity for a British manufacturer to shine.

    Got my route planned 🙂

Still waiting on frame bag 😕 but it’s being done by a mate so, if necessary, I can go stand over his sewing machine until he finishes.

I’m surprised to hear about Revelate problems. If the TD guys get really stuck, I have a spare Revelate seat-bag that I could lend.

Cheers Aidan but I reckon they’ll be alright. Last weekend they were able to carry pretty much all their gear with a full frame bag, bar harness and small backpack … the more carrying capacity they’ve got the more crap they’ll take 😉

For those struggling to get bags after obviously trying Wildcat there is a guy in America I just used…

From order to delivery just over a week and very well priced..

Seat pack and Bar Harness shown here …

I had already ordered the tangle bag but if I hadn’t I would have had him make me a similar item

I have finished the definitive map

It covers the whole area at Explorer scale

It’s in PDF and its 600meg, designed to be printed A0 size (usually £25ish)

If anybody wants a copy and has a bright idea how to share it then more than welcome

(I do have a pro dropbox account)

Is anyone else considering using the “track at SH837140 heading west(ish)” which is “quite interesting”? (Bwlch Siglen) Is there anything on the western side other than a cheeky scramble through the forest or down the mountainside?

    stills8tannorm

Without bothering to look … the other side isn’t really cheeky as it’s FC.

Anybody taking lights, or are you all bedding down and forgetting night riding?

I certainly know of a couple carrying lights.

I’ll take a diablo for emergency use but not planning to ride at night, light from 4.30am to past 9pm so plenty of ride time really 😉

Pete – let me know if you get hold of a copy – it’ll simplify what we need to share

    valleydaddy

ok Steve not sure how we are going to get such a big file and printed for that matter – maybe able to get it done in work – sssssssshhhhhh

the assumption of light from 4am to 9pm is based on nice weather, forecast is heavy rain this weekend, i reckon its gonna be wet next week, and dark clouds 🙁 I’m going with Vision 2 with extra battery, and joystick w/ piggyback cell.

If it’s that bad I’ll have probably had enough by the time it gets dark and will be seeking shelter
