    Hi all

Can someone recommend a nice technical enduro-ish trail around Rosedale.
We’ll be staying in Hutton-le-Hole, but it doesn’t have to be there as we’re in a camper.

Something around 20-25km? Longer if there are easy traverses.

I’ve been looking on trailforks and Strava but can’t really find anything.
This book might be decent, but we’re off tomorrow, so a bit late:

#11 sounds the kind of thing, but I can’t find a route anywhere.

    Ta!

The c2c route goes through Rosedale.

(I think there’s a typo on stage 7, should be Rosedale to rhb)

I’ve done a few rides from near Rosedale through hole of horcum, down through Dalby and back via wrelton.

I did a few rides over in whitby this year near Robinshood Bay over the moors but might be too far for you? Pm me if interested and I’ll send you the strava links.

Your also not far from YCH who will have loads of info on riding. They also have their own mtb route on site. The cafe is amazing.

Really hard to tell from those maps which bits are the good bits and how I should turn them into a loop.

I’m surprised it’s so hard, given how easy it is to find similar Peak District loops.
A lot of what I’m finding looks like old school landrover tracks and things you could do on CX bikes.

There are a couple of decent descents off Rudland Rigg close to where you are staying. Can’t attach GPS but bridleway is from West Gill Head to Elm House and just South of Bloworth Crossing to Elm House. Not as rocky or as good as peaks but good fun imo.

    Thanks douchebag – looking now.
This is a bit further north, but does it look any good?

Does this include one of the Rigg descents you mentioned douchebag?

This one’s a good ride – I also struggled to find radcore trails on the North York Moors and MBR had this listed in an article called Steep Trails or something. It’s not long and the descents are brief but it’s really enjoyable. You could start in the south east corner – there’s a bridleway that traverses across to the route at the top of Caper Hill. Starting here would actually let you do another descent first from the road to Fryup Lodge, then you could do the route in the link and grind your way up Bainley Bank to get back to the car.

It’s not like riding in the Peak, it’s a better area for exploring and days out rather than going full gnar.

    Thanks munrobiker!
That looks like a good taster. I’ve put it in as a Strava route.
That first one I linked above shares part of it, so if we want more, I can extend.

There’s some great trails on the Moors around Rosedale but stringing together all the best bits can be tricky.

The singletrack descent from Rudland Rigg down to Low Mill is terrific, but it’s a slog back over Rosedale way over Blakey Bank. There’s a quite fun doubletrack descent down into the valley from near the Lion Inn, or you can follow the old railway round the head of the valley and drop down to Dale Head Farm. Or head the other way along the railway to pick up on of the descents near Ana Cross.

The undulating singletrack from Hollins Farm to Lastingham is great, and there are a few trails down from the shooting track up by Ana Cross that end at the farm (I seem to get a different one every time).

If you stay around the Rosedale valley you can link up quite a lot without too much road, if you head over to Rudland it’s a bit of a slog on road or off.

It’s not like the Peak, but I love it round there. It’s a lot quieter too.

Thanks all! @munrobiker we’ve just come back from riding your loop. We did it exactly as your Strava had it. We camped at a layby at the trailhead.
Great route. The bit off the road was disappointing, but then it turned down the cliff (you’re pictured bit) and it was great from there.
Quite enjoyed the techie climb up to the Ainthorpe descent. Maybe doable in the dry! We had drizzle all round which made a slippy layer on all the stones.

    Cheers!

Glad you liked it! I ride it whenever I’m at Saltburn Folk Festival and it ticks a lot of boxes despite the bimbley bits.

Just scrolled back through and that route from munrobiker is a cracker. There’s not much on t’Moors that doesn’t involve bimbling to link stuff tbh.
