Not seen much of Porte but looks like he’s going to be bothering the Rapha tailors tonight too.

Well yes. That goes without saying but Froome out, Contador nearly 3 mins behind is quite a shocking day

well thats something, once froome went down i feared a dull race without a climbing challanger to contador but i’ll take nibali with a 3 minute headstart. 🙂

WHAT a stage! Well pleased for Nibali and also for Lars Boom – you’d never guess he’s a previous CX World Champ would you! 😉

Great to see Porte and Thomas pick it up with no hesitation. Nibali’s not going to be too worried by the mountains, hopefully some dry roads so he can throw himself down some of the descents.

I’m so glad my boss is off for 2 weeks & we have a TV here at work 😀

Still going to have to watch all of it again as I was flitting in and out of the mess room pretending to work 😉

    BOOM indeed

I’m liking the Greg Lemond and his sidekick bit, as I’m stuck in Brussels and all I’m hearing is flemish on the TV coverage up to this point.

    Wow, what a dramatic day.

Just trying to catch up, read back through the thread.

Fantastic. Just overloaded with excitement and information, gonna take a while to process all this.

I fell in love with Porte a while ago, I believe during the TT stage of the tour last year. I’m gutted for Froome, but so excited to see what Richie can do.

clever ploy Geraint and Richie putting time into Bertie, Richie can sit in behind and let Contrador & his team do all the work chasing down Nibali.

Nibali is the best all-round road cyclist I’ve seen in decades.

    The racers racer.

Missed it. Had to do actual things.

Will have to record highlights later, after football.

Can anyone in the Eccelston area of Lancashire confirm reports of a very loud Nelson Muntz-style “HA HA” echoing around the hills?

    😆

He’s definitely up there, one of my favourite cycling pics is from the Giro last year:

I’ll say it too, Wiggins should have been on the team. Porte is a potential GC winner and Wiggins probably couldn’t have won this tour given the stages but he had a slim chance and Sky look pretty thin now.

Gutted for Froome, can’t say I like him but he tried to tough it out and defend his title, so respect for that.
