Syncing music and photos to Android (for an iOS numpty..)

OK, so previously i just did everything with iTunes, and now i have a nice new Z1 Compact and slowly getting used to Android.

The bundled software is pretty terrible (apart from the thing that got all my old settings off the iPhone). So whats the best way of syncing Music (currently in iTunes) and my latest photos (i.e. downloading photos from PC to phone)??

Or install the Google Play music manager on your PC. Sync iTunes library with the Google cloud. Access cloud from device and pin music you want locally rather than streamed.

For all its faults I haven’t yet found a decent Android package that betters iTunes and plays nicely with network storage.

I’m using Google Music at the moment, it seems to be on the right track but could probably do with a few more configurable options.

I’m probably missing a few though so will watch this with interest…

As above. Install Google Music Manager and it automatically uploads your iTunes folder/playlists (and any other mp3 etc.). I think it’s great, it’s pretty much made my iPod redundant. The Google version of Genius is better than Genius (IMHO). I’ve also only recently discovered the joys of streaming music over Bluetooth to my sound plinth – quality isn’t as good as good as my old separates, but for space saving and convenience (read laziness) it can’t be beaten.

I drag & drop also. Not seeing the problem, it’s considerably less painful than any nonsense software I’ve ever come across.

DoubleTwist is the iTunes replacement, far as I’m aware, and supposed to be very good. Never used it myself cos, y’know, I’m quite capable of copying a couple of files about.

May revisit DoubleTwist see how it’s come along.

It didn’t seem very polished when I last used it and all seemed quiet on the development front…

isyncr is good for updating playlists or airdroid for a wireless transfer

I fear i’m too set in my ways for all this… When’s iPhone 6 coming out??

I use Isyncr. Like it…… And it updates itunes play counts too 🙂

I couldn’t find any decent software that let me bulk upload playlists so I do the drag and drop thing also. Using Rocketplayer I navigate to the music folder on my phone where I have separate playlist folders placed inside and use it that way. IMO android hasn’t really nailed the whole music thing like itunes has.

If anyone has any better ways without needing to use itunes I would like to hear them too.

WMP will do it pretty easily, won’t it if you want that kind of interface.

Anything but iTunes has to be a positive.

Horses for courses, if you have all your media on iTunes already then stick with an iPhone….changing between operating systems can be a ball-ache.
That said, Google’s own Music Manager is pretty good actually….you can install it on your laptop in seconds and in a few minutes all your iTunes will be on Google’s cloud storage ready to listen to on your Android device, you can also select the option to automatically do the same with any future iTunes purchases….its the least hassle i’ve come across so far, previously used Winamp, iSyncr, Airdroid etc etc which all did the job but were a faff to be honest.

It took about a month when I did it!

I moved 700+ tracks across in about 10 mins this morning….check your computer or internet speeds!

I was throttling it somewhat so as not to complete monopolise the connection, but it still took forever – you might be right about connection speed, though. Around 18,000 tracks may explain it to a degree.

I think Media Monkey talks ok with Android devices…
I can’t be bothered to look into it properly and just use drag/drop in general, although I keep meaning to getting round to doing it ‘properly’.
