    If ’29+’ is 31.5″, than I’m back to waiting for a 650B x 3″, something that matches a 29ers OD closer.

31.5 / 800mm sounds big, a 3″ should add about 3/5″ or 15mm radius over a 2.4″ish tyre, so ~30.5 / 775mm OD. Not sure I’d want to jack up the front of a Jones by an inch.

I measured my front wheel at 29.5″ – so if it is 30.5″ – then it’s only 1/2″ taller overall.

I’ll get the rims anyway – as they’re lighter and wider than gordos.

all speculation at the moment anyway! – I may drop jeff an email and get his views before buying a Knard.

The thing that is not clear yet is if there is a clear chainline for a granny ring, maybe with a MWOD type chainset but probably would give a very poor chainline.
Scotland with no Granny ring is a big no no… 🙁

The rims will go down a treat for many different progects and ideas as lot lighter than Trials rims 🙂

Alfine aye – but struggle to a get a decent low 1st gear with that bigger than regular 29er diameter, though do-able 🙂

30.5″ is better, that half inch shouldn’t mess things up. + 1/2″ wheel radius adds trail about double that of 1/2″ on the fork or the equivalent ~1/2 degree on head angle, so it’s like backing the bike of a degree. FRC, would be interested in Jeff’s comments if you mail him, mind PM’ing me or posting up rather than a few of us bombarding him with the same q? Cheers. Tyres/ rims a long way off yet tho anyway.

    More news chaps…

    complete is £1699 . March/April 2013 eta
kit (frame, fork, tyres, tubes and rims).. price tbc but around £1100, December 2012eta.
frame and fork is £650 December 2012 eta

I have to order before midday on monday 6/8/12 to get stuff from teh first production run. You will find build kit and complete pre-order options in my webshop.

Tyres and rim prices are being nailed down BUT surly wont be selling these seperately at first. The first stock is allocated to the frames and completes, so Jones owners etc will have to wait until maybe the summer 2012.

    a 2.55 wtb and a 2.4 ardent do fit a jones on a 29 x 50mm rim though, so that’s still a winner!

where can I get such a rim please?

    Thanks Futon and Tazzy

    Rad!

Pity it has a stupid bent seat tube so you’d actually need two seatposts to run one like that. ^^

a rather badly thought out bike easily marketed towards mugs it would seem.

Cant see a massive difference between this and a Karate Monkey , apart from a shighter wider tyre. Each to there own though.
