Recently got a Superstar wheel, one of the DH ones built onto one of their Switch hubs.

Fantastic wheel, fantastic build, all very, very good. However, its a bit quiet… I like a bit of click, not Pro-2 levels, but a bit nonetheless. I find it useful on my xc wheels as a way of letting folk know I’m approaching on towpaths etc in the absence of a bell.

If I wash all the grease out of the freehub, or try to lessen it, is it likely to degrade rapidly/break/blow up? Anything I can use in its place?

A nice quiet hub and you want to make more noise?

Put a lolly stick in your spokes.

Water bottle filled with crickets is the standard accepted fix as far as I know.

Similarly disappointed with the silence. Other than that, it seems fine after 18 months.

I changed my Switch freehub a couple of years ago and forgot to grease it properly – makes a nice clicky noise (not quite Hope noise levels) and has been fine ever since!

I would only change my Hope click for a CK ‘buzz’. None of this silent bicycle rubbish!

My Switch is “fairly” clicky. Perhaps it needs more grease.

    Spokey dokey?

Liking the suggestions so far, though the water bottle filled with crickets idea seems a little mean…plus, how do you turn it off when you start to pedal? Train them?

    Turbospoke is awesome!!

    ask a stoopid question……..
