While we are selling stuff I have an MSR Superfly which I have used 2/3 times since buying in the summer. Can bring it along and available for just £15 if anybody interested.

Blackhound I’ll probably take that off you 😉

The building of my rapid bivvi kit is nearly complete with this and the option of a home made meths stove 😉

Tiger – I’ll take the regular hunka off you for 20 notes – cheers.

Teeto – sure thing. I’ll get this weekend out of the way first 😉

Tiger – bring it on Saturday please. I don’t expect I’ll use it on the weekend, but it’ll save on postage. Thanks.

OK valley-daddy I’ll bring it along.

Still plan to come over from Derby but we are waiting to see what the roads are like in mid Wales from Shrewsbury. Safety first and all that.

Kev, at present all the main roads are fine and have been all week. I was told last night that there’s only a slight skittering of snow in Mach’ … we’d be snowed in if it wasn’t for the 4×4 but as soon as you get onto the road proper, it’s clear.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to attempt the mountain road from Staylittle to Mach’ though … unless they’re riding a bike on Sun morning in which case they’ll be fine 😉

Cheers Stuart, hoped the ‘A’ roads would be clear and weather is supposed to be warming up to about freezing by the weekend….

cheers blackhound lets hope we can get to the meet point at least 😉

I’ll stay off the mountain roads for sure but a shame as the scenery would be awesome

Don’t worry you’ll still get to see it and er, experience it … just not by car 😉

Valleydaddy, I’m glad to report I’ve just made a brew with your new stove … Just need to knock up a windshield / pan support now and we’re all set.

Made a new one last night, used instant gasket, a redbull can as an internal sleeve only to look at it this mroning and its completely lop sided 😐

    Back to trusty old one

@valleydaddy – – are you going straight from Aberdare? If so do you fancy heading up in convoy?

    valleydaddy

@Stuart — cheers fella I look forward to my field test 😉

@Stevemorg2 — That would be ok by me, however, I may have to drop a kitchen gas hob in Newtown somewhere on the way up, it’s not too far out of the way but I am waiting to confirm this is going to happen so will maybe able to let you know later on.

@SteveMorg I have to meet someone in Newtown at 11.30am to give them a gas hob we sold on the “bay” so will be leaving Aberdare at 9.30am 🙁 to get there on time.

If that’s of I could meet you at the Storey Arms layby at about 9.45am if you want to convoy from there?

It’s not too far out of the way but I understand if you want to make your own way up later on off convoy

The Derby contingent have decided to abandon the journey. Still quite a bit of snow on local roads though main roads seem clear. Safety reasons really, could be icy roads and do not want to be rushing. We are planning a local outing though, no driving involved.

valleydaddy = if you still want the MSR stove contact me via profile, would want to charge for postage at such a keen price.

Ianb – will email you after the weekend.

Sorry to hear that kev … but perhaps wise given the weather. We’ve had another inch or so today so the higher ground should have seen plenty more.

Cheers Stuart, would have been good to catch up with you, Ian and Taylor. The Peaks beckon and no driving. Have a great weekend all.

Right all just been informed that my Mother-in-Law is reading this via my Father-in-Law, wondering why I’d want to sleep outside.

This does have one big advantage, she does make very good Bara brith. So just post your order on here and we’ll see if it turns up 🙂

Si isn’t coming now, sounded like the bloke going to dottingham in the eighties when he rang me earlier.

I’ll have a slice of bara brith please tiger

    valleydaddy

Bara brith – surely the perfect accompaniment to a Welsh bivvy trip?
I’m sure I could find room for a slice (or two) somewhere in my bag 😀

@flatfish – pity Si can’t make it – Beth wanted to see all three bags lined up side by side 😉

@Blackhound – sorry you won’t be making it over. Will be in touch via email next week.

So, does the list of the hardened few look something like this:

    still s8tannorm

    IanB

    Stevemorg2
    Tiger6791
    Ambrose

    Anyone else?

@ianb he can’t be that ill, he says his bag came today and he’s fitted it to his bike out in the cold garage.
Good report by the sound of it too.
There’s still 36hours before people set off so I’d expect at least one more bailer.

I think we have a hardy crew of the ones I know so bar not being able to physically get there we’ll be at the Spar in Mach at 1pm or the veggie cafe eating falafel 😕

    valleydaddy

plus I’ve got my hip flask tipple Laphroaig Quarter Cask 48% to beat the cold 😯 so the incentive is there along with some Bara Brith 😛

Being such a skinny bloke I get first dibs sleeping in the middle of the nest. I’ve shared Pete’s bodywarmth previously, I know it’s good. I’m really going to need it!

Weather is going to be barmy tomorrow. Can’t remember the last time it was a high as 4 degrees…
Though I’m sure we can compensate by going to a higher elevation 😉

We’ll be fine I’m sure, at ground level it will still be chilly.

Ambrose I asked you before not to mention that, I still have the salami photo’s 😯

Just got some food in prep for final pack tonight

Just so I know, how much water do we need to take.

Currently got a 800ml bottle and assuming there will be opportunity to re-fill before cooking?

If not I’ll bring the 3l Camelbak.

    valleydaddy
    Free Member

I’m sure there is water near by or snow 😉

Suppose can’t hurt to bring as much as you can as long as you’re happy to carry it, but if not I’m sure between us we’ll have enough of most things.

I’m going to bring my camelbak as it will have my trail tools etc in it so I may aswell bring that I may only fill it half way though to minimalise the weight.

IanB Could you post a link to the site that creates that graph, I have a caravan in Devils Bridge and would be interested in monitoring the weather.

    valleydaddy

@pistonbroke – only if you leave the keys to the caravan on top of the wheel so we can have a refuge if it goes tits up 😉

Might be a problem getting the key there from Sheffield. It could be a very posh igloo by now, it’s quite a way from your chosen location which I’m assuming is Angler’s Retreat. There’s a house there though or a bothy at the head of Nant Y Moch.
Don’t worry about the link Ian, found it.
