Anyone else watching “How to lose weight well” on Channel 4 right now? Actually a fair bit more informative than I thought it might be…

Finally weighed myself today. Jesus. How the hell did that happen? 😯

I’m 5’6″ and, according to the scales, 14 stone 😳

No doubt ambitious targets, but if I stop being the lazy cow I was in 2016, they’ll hopefully be doable.

    1 month 188lbs
    3 months 172lbs
    6 months 148lbs

I’ve just had a donner kebab. There…. I’ve said it.

I didn’t eat the pitta bread though. So we’re all good, right? 😀

think the new battery in my scales is wrong

    measured 256lbs (116kg)

anything under 220lbs (100kg) by 6 months would be good

    gonna try hard this time

TINAS… I will join you for some chubby action in swinley. Mondays 6.30 would suit (as would pretty much any other day apart from friday).

Live about 1 min from start of blue so pretty flexible.

I usually ride my chubby like me bike (29+) but happy to cross or single speed it if others want to mix it up a bit.

I reckon we meet start of blue just because that’s easier for more people to join in. I have set up a Doddle poll so anyone who wants to join us can register:

Hope I’m not too late to join in?

Desperately need to shift some lard and this will be another motivation. Need to play less golf and ride my bike more (if it can still take me) as well as cutting out snacks and beer. My Wife is a fitness junky so I have somebody close who is supporting me, just need to be less lazy and actually join her in the gym when she tells me to get off my fat arse!

Weighed on Monday at 298 lb 😯
    1 month Target – 288 lb
    3 month Target – 270 lb
    6 month target – 250 lb

It’s worth remembering that this doesn’t all have to be Ryvita and mung beans, and eating nice food will make the whole thing more enjoyable and effective. If you steer away from the doner and towards the shish kebab it’s a very healthy meal; grilled meat, salad, bit of carb and some chilli sauce to pep up the metabolism. Plus it’s effing delicious 🙂

    Kieran added.

Now 60 names 😯 This means i will not be chasing you individually for weigh ins!! I will post up on the thread at the appropriate time, and also send an email but then I need a simple response from you to my email containing

    Your stw name
    Your weight in lbs.
(If you have it in kg and need help converting, Cougar has offered to do it for you using his simple double it, add a number, take away your birthday, divide by your mother’s maiden name and then add 3 technique. Or multiply by 2.205 if you want an accurate answer)

Weigh in day is every other Friday (except end Mar when there’s an extra to account for 13 weeks in a quarter) but I’ll remind you anyway, and I’ll plan on doing the updates for Sun evening so there’s no issue if you don’t get me the data on Friday itself. I just like Friday because it’s before the weekend and hence I can look good before releasing the reins slightly at the w/e, and also so i get the w/e to input your updates.

If you don’t give me a figure I’ll just roll over the last one you had. No ‘expulsions’ for non-reporting here, although obviously if you do decide to leave let me know and I’ll delete you and avoid having to track you.

I’ll leave it open until end of today for any last minute joiners, then will email the assembled mass (!) with a link where you can see the info.

    I’m in.

Fell off my bike on some ice in 2013, tore ankle ligaments, put on a stone while I couldn’t ride. I’ve maintained the gain since then. Time to shift it 🙂

Weighed in on Monday – 151 lbs
    1 month target – 146 lbs
    3 month target – 141 lbs
    6 month target – 136 lbs

    Email sent

Weighed in on Jan 1st before I spotted this thread – 113kg at 1.90cm. Not quite the heaviest I’ve ever been, but not far off 🙁

I’m also up for some Swinley Chub action – work at the end of the M3, so a 25min blast down in the car for me.

My toothache diet plan seems to be going well. So far MyFitnessPal has just 3 entries in the last 36 hours.

Mon dinner – Stella Artois 1200 cal
Tues lunch – Brioche swirl 155 cal
Tues dinner – tin of beans and pork sausages – 388 cal

Must remember to buy more Stella.

@andybrad – there’s a similar thread on the bearbones forums (I thought cycling was meant to keep us fit and healthy? 🙄 ) where you give target weight then current weight, BMI and gut circumference. 100Kg is somewhat different on someone 1.5m tall vs someone 2m tall.

Note that BMI is more suited to a population measurement than an individual but it is at least a reasonably objective measurement. It’s also aimed at generally sedentary subjects and doesn’t deal with very athletic subjects, like rugby players, very well.

If you actually read the thread, yes I am sure 😉

We’ve already had a “standards” argument. It’s lbs and 1, 3 and 6 month targets. Email with username in the profile.

I hadn’t envisaged it my gut being so big…..

Perfect tagline for a weight loss thread …

Molly, you can happily join but as Jamba noted need your targets rather than just starting point.

Muggo – thanks but now the s/sheet is set up I think it should be OK. 65 data points every 2 weeks shouldn’t be too big an issue.

I thought cycling was meant to keep us fit and healthy?

There’s the rub. I don’t particularly consider myself unhealthy (at least not in a physical sense) compared to the general population. I’m carrying too much around the middle for my liking but my cholesterol is low, BP at the upper limits of acceptable but still acceptable, I can walk up and down hills for hours, I could get on the bike and ride for several hours at a reasonable intensity and up big hills without needing to get off and push, I can sprint for a bus without collapsing with hypoxia. I’m just too heavy for my liking, and if i was lighter i could ride further / faster and with even more enjoyment.
