I’d like to get some quotes for a new wall but
having some idea of what I’d hope to be a reasonable
cost for a good job would be really helpful!

    Job includes:

    4×2 timbers
    4.5 m wide x 2.460m tall
    Insulated.
    Plaster boarded and skimmed.
New door lining and new internal door.
    New Hinges and handles.
Run new skirting a long new stud wall
Reposition a light switch if needed.
    Paint new wall white.

    Thanks

    Thanks very much @Blazin-saddles!

    Is this something you do?

I’m looking for someone in Suffolk if you are that way.

We do kitchen and bathroom design and installation, part of which includes a fair bit of stud building. Unfortunately for your needs, we’re in Loughborough.

It’s not a difficult job to build the stud wall, have a look at YouTube. You really need a carpenter/ Sparks and plasterer to do the rest which will cost £600-£750 Labour. You can speak to individuals, get them to give you a list of materials, which you can organise and get delivered and then get them in one by one.

You just need to paint it all then.

(Obviously if you can’t get someone to do it all).

Don’t forget you’ll potentially have to deal with the flooring/floor covering.
Can’t put your sill plate over carpet or floating flooring.

I built one with no prior experience and it was pretty straightforward, give it a go.
I cheated with the plastering, I’d only done that once before so wasn’t very good at it but a wall-sander solved that problem
Loads of how to videos on the YouTube.
Probably quicker than waiting for trades just now!
