Apparently there is a large storm front heading towards the UK, experts(idiots) are saying mostly Scotland and Wales will be effected.

The thing is after going for a walk earlier and looking out the window just now, there doesn’t seem to be much wind out side at all.

Calm before the storm? or another hyped up story by the media?

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, if anyone see’s anything that vaguely resembles a large, powerful storm heading towards Edinburgh, let me know.

Pressure charts dont look too good. In a small high pressure ridge at the moment but high winds and heavy rain across the country within 24 hours.

if its the front moving over from africa that we had last night (i havnt seen the weather charts today)

it was wild here last night – driving rain roaring wind rattling the shutters and generally making a **** racket and wipping stuff about our yard

we have had storms – but this one actually woke me up ! flooding all over the place too

Thats because the majority of the weather moves through tomorrow moring. Enjoy your cycle to work in 30mph gusts and heavy rain everyone, and dont listen to Kasey as he is not a meteorologist.

Most of you southern puffs won’t get much anyway so you can all come back outdoors. Us hard northerners will bear the brunt as usual and carry on as normal as we always do.

The warning from the Met Office

    Heavy Rain & Severe Gales 2000 Sun 7 0800 Mon 8
Rain will become heavy this evening and tonight. Accumulations of 25mm are expected with up to 40mm locally over higher ground. On highest roads the rain may turn to wet snow at times.

The rain will be accompanied by gale to severe gale force southeasterly winds with gusts of 50 to 60mph in exposed areas and up to 70mph on parts of the West Coast.

The gales and heavy rain will ease towards morning.

either way, i think we are due for a fair downpour.

gusts of wind up north are nothing new, i have to laugh at the comments from the bbc sitting in nice sheletered london about how bad the weather is going to be.

How can it be a false alarm – the event would have to have been and gone and not happened to qualify.

you are aware weather has the natural propensity to change in a day aren’t you…?

It was sunny sunny this morning in the hills but now cloudy. Woah! Why ain’t it sunny still?

Why don’t we just wait and see, last night wasn’t too bad here, but it might be worse tonight. Thanks for the info trailrat, how bad is the flooding?

I think this might be a bad storm, judging by the recently weather, anything is possible.

Was pretty wild here (Cornwall) last night – a fair few branches down, minor floods, etc. Nothing too dramatic but the road from here to Truro required an MTB – a road bike couldn’t have done it. Too much debris on the road.

Looks like I am heading up to Manchester for Thursday/Friday. Is it likely to be raining?

Will it be still or sparkling water?

Let’s just say I have a healthy respect for the power of nature and I don’t think raping the planet and making it uninhabitable for our species, is a good idea!

I happen to believe that we are about to experience a world storm and that raising awareness for the fact is a good idea.

Not right now, over the next few years, but the build up to it should also be quite devastating.

That said, let’s just see what we see.

If the end is nigh, I say, lets get pissed!

kaesae – where in Edinburgh are you? It was pretty heavy up in Balerno last night, and the ride in this morning was quite an adventure.

Yesterday was very pleasant in Cardiff and was when I went to bed. At 2.30am when our poorly daughter woke up it was seriously wild.. then calm and sunny again this morning. Moved through pretty quickly.

This week I’ve brought my MTB down with me instead of the road bike. I didn’t think it’d be very muddy…

Precip radar image from MeteoGroup’s Weather Pro app. Thursday’s gonna be pretty crappy, but I would hold off building an Ark just yet.

    Absolutely.

Fancy having a stab at a possible date for this “world storm” kaesae ?

Obviously we can’t rely on the idiots at the Met Office, so perhaps you can give us a clue based on your Stellar Realignment Theory ?

Oh here we go…………everyone starts mocking the guy.

Personally I’m very grateful kaesae is raising awareness for this world storm.

And I’d like to take some sensible precautions in preparation for it. Any ideas kaesae ? I thinking along the lines of perhaps improving my swimming technique – it’s always been pretty crap. What do you reckon ?

Well, gov’mint’s gonna have a couple of chuffin great aircraft carriers without aircraft, p’haps they could be adapted to Ark status. Although the Ark Royal’s currently surplus… 😉
