I used to like a good storm but hurricane bawbag in December 2011 was frightening, 165mph recorded at cairngorm, we had 130mph in Lochaber it was a belter, wouldn’t like to experience that again but probably will! All the best to you all down south hope it’s not too bad, I think the BBC etc are over egging it a bit right enough though.

It has become the norm for the beeb 🙁

Just been down to the beach to watch the kite surfers. They are having a ball. It’s windy down on the south coast by Brighton but it’s not crazy windy. Yet…

Blue skies here in east lancs. And that only happens twice a year, usually! We were up the appropriately named Windy Hill on’t bikes yesterday, and it was steadfastly rejecting its well-earned name. Barely a breeze up there

So when you southerners have finished with your annual bit of wind, can we have it back please? It felt a bit weird being up there without being blown sideways 😉

I can’t see how Sky News are reporting it any different.

BBC : UK braced for severe storm and heavy rain

Sky News : Storm: Britain Braced For Hurricane-Speed Winds

So which news provider isn’t “over egging” it ? Who’s providing a more reasonable assessment ?

EDIT : Sky News has completely changed its page now. Although I still can’t see any significant difference with how Sky News is covering the story to the BBC.

The BBC weather report I just watched said nothing stronger than ‘expect some travel disruption on Monday morning’. Seems fair to me.

It’s getting quite breezy in London and I’ve got the fear, I built a really cheap and shoddy polytunnel on my allotment a few weeks ago. I might to have to nip by in the morning to see how it’s held up.

Wasn’t that windy, 4mtr weather and a few hours busting some moves in Chi Harbour with my windsurfing homies 😀

Not looking forward to heading back to London 😥

Just remember – sometimes there really is a wolf. Hopefully they are over egging, but stay safe down there.

Slightest of breezes here on the north east edge of Dartmoor at the mo. Was a lot windier this morning. Forecast does look a bit hairy for midnight through to about 3.00am though.

It’s only doing this because my boiler is broken. Sodding freezing in Chateau Mule ATM.

Nice sunny day here in central Spain, a bit chilly at 8:45 when I set off on my bike, but warmed up nicely by midday. HTH.

Expect the temperature to significantly increase when the storm hits you.

Pretty blowy on Gower. Got blown off my bike on Llanmadoc Hill, probably not paying attention, and some waves were beaking on Worms Head and the spray was up and higher than the outer head!

Just had some fun finding footage of recent hurricanes on YouTube, playing them and telling the family that it is now and just about half an hour away from us. 😀

Arse covering de-litigation exercise by the authorities perpetuated by the media accompanied by crappy colour codes to make it even simpler for the gormless lap it ups. Yeah if you live by the coast batten down the hatches and stick out some sand bags but which of Britains bazillion trees is gonna come down? Some will but you probably won’t know which until its too late. Bloody soft considering there’s people bombing and shooting each other 24 hours a day elsewhere… I hope the foreign meeja doesnt get wind of how spineless we are (did you see what I did there?)

Erm, I think that’s precisely the point they are making, and why many trains won’t be running until things have calmed down a bit.

I tied down the bloody trampoline in the rain for this frigging light breezefest ?
