World Cup Downhill is the toughest and most rewarding thing in this sport, and I’m stoked that it’s given me so much. Next year is time for my final WC season. My priorities may change, but the fun and adventure two wheels gives me will continue forever. Cheers.

Around 1.30 I thought he was going to change tracks and work as a trawlerman!

Oh thank God he’s doing one more – after such a massive career it would be a crying shame for his final season to be the one when he pretty much didn’t participate in it.

Bit of a hero of mine when I was younger and he was riding for mbuk and gt , I always liked seeing him still ride world cups as it somehow made me feel younger ! Best of luck for the future peaty and let’s see you on the box at fort William one more time next year

    Loved the location and filming.
Thought the voice-over was very un-Peaty-like. Too subdued. Could have been more of a celebration of ‘one more year!’

Was half expecting it to change at the end with a ‘wont back down’ bit of loonacy.

Riding looked effortlessly smooth though – a post WC Peaty could be very entertaining indeed.

I just googled Lofloten Islands. Probably a bit too far away for a weekend trip but it’s been promoted to top of my list!

Good on you Peaty! I hope he remains part of the WC circuit in some capacity, proper legend.

This shall be my abiding image (apart from winning the Worlds, those stripes did suit him!)

Yeah, don’t get me wrong I love peaty and delighted he’s gonna race one more season but the vid is a bit ostentatious innit…

Exceptional career from an extraordinary man. Thanks for all the pleasure you’ve brought me.

Attendance is going to go through the roof. What price a hotel room, camp site or dark park space in Fort William

Always remember racing him in XC when he was riding a Kona rigid hardtail back in the early 90s fair time a go hes come a long way since then good on him.

    .

If I’d got to his level and stayed there for as long as he has, I’d think I’d earned it.

Great film. If I as a humble tradesman can ride in Norway why not a World Champion?

I thought it a pretty classy way to go out, so his last season will be like a lap of victory.

And I was convinced it was the NW Highlands until I saw the little red houses.

    Stunning location anyway.

I really hope he’s got his entry in for the SSDT again. He’s not the greatest motorcycle trials rider around but he does get round, which is a hats off from me.

Steve Peat has something to say- it’s better to burn out, than to fade away! There can be only one!

Hope he gets the swansong he deserves, I was a wee bit worried he’d just keep grinding away til there was nothing left. Fort william’s going to go nuts.

(also- I think MTBCut have been watching VAST)

Really going to have to try and make Fort Bill to say goodbye. What a top chap that man is.

Should have had Rat Boy doing the voice over.
No one would have understood a word he said but it would have been a tad more interesting.
For proper Peaty action watch all the ‘This Is Peaty’ videos on YouTube.
    He’s a legend.

bootiful. Good luck to him for his last season, hope he gets some results.

the vid is a bit ostentatious innit…

How? because the location’s so exotic? Cheap flights with norwegian – Gatwick to Tromso, bit extra for the bike, hire car, 6 hour drive and airbnb when you get there. Hardly megabucks.

    I’m guessing he meant pretentious.

    I’m guessing he meant pretentious.

Not a word anyone has ever associated with Peaty before, to my knowledge.

    😀

Maybe he meant it was a bit attention-seeking and that spending the best part of two decades at the top level of DH racing is nothing special?

I was gonna join in and say, perhaps he meant ‘extravagant’, but actually ‘ostentatious’ may have been spot on:

    ostentatious
    ??st?n?te???s/
characterized by pretentious or showy display; designed to impress.
“a simple design that is glamorous without being ostentatious”
    synonyms: showy, pretentious, conspicuous, obtrusive, flamboyant, gaudy, garish, tinsel, tinselly, brash, vulgar, loud, extravagant, fancy, ornate, affected, theatrical, actorly, overdone, over-elaborate, kitsch, tasteless;

Such is the Cut Media / Santa Cruz way though. And all the better for it IMO! 😀

Drama through awesome production values. I love their films.

    Go Peaty!

Trying to work out getting to Cairns, mate was at the after party last year, apparently the syndicate did not receive their damage deposit back….

My twopennorth is that Peaty has had such a great career, putting so much of himself into the sport that he could come to my house and slag my bike off for a few hours and I’d still ask him if I could buy him a pint.
I hope this last season becomes more of a celebration of his career than anything to do with race positions, as I the ink that the cutting edge of downhill has moved beyond him now. He’s at the top, but not the very edge. Mind you, he’d do just as well to cruise down high 5ing the spectators & sipping on cold lager, I don’t think many would care.

He’s at the top, but not the very edge.

That said if he’s fully fit I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the top 20 most of the year
