SRAM XO Eagle & GX etc

I’ve been away from MTB for a while and my bike is a 2019 Spark 900RC mechanical (XTR).

On my road bike I have 12sp DA Di2 which works flawlessly and I’d not go back to mechanical by choice for road riding.

I’ve no experience of electronic gears on MTBs and I’m considering a new XC bike with either XO or GX Eagle – is this stuff as good as the road kit in terms of shifting, durability and reliability?

FYI, it’s AXS that is the wireless electronic stuff, so AXS
GX Eagle is electronic but GX Eagle isn’t.

Bear in mind, if you rip the mech off it will be expensive, unless there are the promised parts for the new SRAM mechs that use the new Universal hanger.

Mine’s been absolutely faultless.
I wouldn’t go back to cable operated and most probably wouldn’t go back to Shimano either.

My AXS XO1 rear mech has done just over 5000km it’s just started to show signs of needing replaced mainly due to me running out of skills and bike bouncing down trails. Cage is a bit misaligned but Still shifts seamlessly.

Probably buy a gx next tho

We have been running them for quite a while and wouldn’t go back. Broke the cage on my XX1 and SRAM don’t sell the part but sorted from Ratio

GX Eagle, GX Transmission and X0 Transmission all working perfectly here. Lots of miles, lots of grit and lots of bumps… But no problems!

The older AXS MTB products shift well, but the clutches are very weak, and with the extra weight of the mech, result in a considerable amount of chain slap, but it is very reliable, if you can put up with the noise.

The newer Transmission AXS is considerably quieter. However, in a bid to make the mech body indestructible, the lower cage is now sacrificial & remarkably weak. On the XX/XO mechs the amount of bent lower cages from very low impacts, is shocking & becoming a real issue for SRAM.

They are selling the bare GX steel lowers for ~£30, which have proven to be more reliable than the higher end parts.

A field in England, it just felt like an acid trip and not a nice one at that.
