    Can you recommend an alternative to spy’s?
    been getting problems around the 30 mile mark & have tried position & stretching etc
    What else is good for MTB’ing?

    get yerself to one of those bike fit places and make sure yer bike is set up right and then if it is plan b would be crank bros eggbeaters that have a lot more float and are more knee friendly, its true they don’t last as long as spds but that’s better than your knees/back/hips exploding.

    Time
    Time
    and again, Time

    Lots of float and seemingly indestructible build quality. (Unlike Egg Beaters )

    +1 for Flashy’s comments.

    I’ve used Time for years after getting a bit of a twinge in my right knee.

    Did one ride with SPD’s after about 4 years of Times and the damage it did to my knee kept me off the bike for 3 months. Been back on the Times since then and not had any knee problems since.

    great, thanks guys, will try time.
    did have bike fit which initially felt like it helped.
    I’m in the ‘its all subjective’ boat right now regarding whats right & wrong!

    Which Time one’s by the way?

    Austin, depends what you’re after. For example, on the gnarmac* and XC bikes, I have these;

    XC8. 143g of lightweight loveliness.

    On the gnarpoon** I have a version of these;

    Big, beefy, bombproof and with extra support around a softer soled shoe.

    Those are pretty much the extremes of the range, but basically, pick an ATAC XC for XCish and ATAC MX or DH for shredding the gnat.

    *Gravel bike
    *Long travel skill compensator

    Forgot to add – Time are EXCELLENT in mud as well.

    And if you look after Times they last forever. OK, maybe not forever, but 2 pairs currently 18 years and counting…..

    Look after them? You mean you need to do more than clean the mud off now and again? Gosh. Who knew!

    I often don’t even bother doing that!

    Pinky, it’s good to stalk. 😉

    😆
    Got 2 pairs that I’ve only been using for probably 10 years now and they’re still functioning perfectly even after multiple offs, dragged through thick mud & more jet-washings than I care to think about.

    Don’t think I would ever consider another make of pedal for my bikes.

    I ride Time now, but did use to use Speedplay Frogs bags of float would have another set but too tight to get new ones while the Time are working….

    Cheers, Steve
