Winter’s nearly here and my annual desire to eat soup at every opportunity is strengthening – it was pumpkin/tomato/ginger soup in the pub last night.

So please share your amazing home-made soup recipes/methods with the forum:

I’ve been quite liking Potage – medieaval peasent food. Pick four pre-Francis Drake veg (no potato/tomato/tobacco) and make soup with them and some added oats. Garlic is allowed, if you’re feeling orthodox about it choose non-root veg, back then even peasents didn’t consider them fit for human consumption. Always surprisingly good for something so un-clever.

It would be but you you don’t put that much oats in there, its only a sprinkle 🙂

    although maybe you’re onto something!

Can’t beat a home made minestrone with bacon in it, whatever veg is about, beAns, a couple of Parmesan rinds out the freezer, and broken up bits of pasta or spaghetti.

Make a big pot full, that’s several days good eating.

I do like a good carrot and coriander. I’m also a big fan of thai style noodley soups, I make them quite often…

    Leek and tomato

Traditional leek and potato with creme fraiche.

Saw a soup on a cooking show butternut squash and peanut butter which looked damn good.

Cannae whack a good bowl of scotch broth either.

    Some good ideas there.

I bought a beautiful squash this morning and need to decide how to soup it. The peanut butter idea sounds great, poss with some ginger. Loots a bit like this, but even better.
