  • So, who's playing Forza 3 then?
  • Bring on the XBox.

I’m currently a bit rubbish on it and my lack of coordination means that for now I have all the assists on, but do race in medium difficulty.

I need a wheel to make it a bit more intuitive, but MS have stopped making the official (and best) one.

I’m currently in season 2 and have recently been awarded a Focus RS, Vauxhall VX220 & Maserati amongst others

Assists are usually a bad idea. Turn them off, you’ll not learn anything otherwise.

Gave up at Forza 2, got sick of putting in 99% perfect laps only to make a tiny mistake on the final lap and have the whole field overtake me. 👿

Spent so long trying to master Laguna Seca that I ended up dreaming about it 😳

Laguna Seca took me a while on GT3. Just remember to stand on the brakes way before the blind crest leading into that steep downhill chicane.

I keep trying in free play, but have them on in career races (for now). It will come with time.

I like the look of Forza and Need for Speed on the TV ads but there’s no way I’m buying a second console.

The genius of the game is that it actually took balls to hit that one right, and its only a bloody computer game! Going in fast, braking early when you couldn’t even see the corner. I’m actually amazed how well I remember it given that I played it about four years ago…

I know! I remember loads of the courses from GT3 that I played a lot in 2003…

Yup, got it for Christmas and have found enough time to get into the Class A championship so far. Have yet to find an ideal setup for class A – currently have a dialled-up Exige but it’s a bit limp for some circuits.

The Xbox controller is sooo much better than the Sony controller for driving – it’s a joy with all the assists off.

Would much prefer to be able to practise a circuit immediately before racing it rather than rely on the rewind button to learn on the job, but other than that it rocks.

Can’t you just save your game and go off and time trial it for a while?

The assists were annoying, but then, so also was flying off every corner in a shower of gravel. Heavy cannabis abuse helped with the necessary dedication there… 😳

Turn the assists off you mummys boy!

Braking is easy enough without ABS, just squeeze the trigger half way (which is probably 95% of the power anyway), then increace the pressure untill it locks up, ease off, etc.

Traction controll likewise, ease the throttle on gently untill the back end starts to push out, pause, and wait untill your further out the corner and staight before giving it the beans.

Stability controll and auto braking just slow you down!

Yeah, but noting the venue and track configuration, going all the way back up the menus, back down into free play, picking the same car, finding the track, waiting for it to load (I have no hard drive so it’s pretty slow), racing it, then going all the way back up to the top menu and back down into the race, including waiting for it to load, would get more than a little tedious. All for the want of a simple menu option. (They could replace ‘hire driver’ with it – I mean who buys a game and then gets the console to play it for them?)

Forza is such a good driving game with some nice features, like being able to buy cars at auction for next to nothing and being able to buy some really nice racing designs in the storefront.
Got to agree with Bez on the xbox controller being so much nicer to use than ps3 dualshock. My hire driver is currently racing lemans at the moment raising me some credits.
The only thing i don’t like about it is it does’nt work with any decent steering wheels.

Driving assists aren’t all bad for learning. The red & blue magic line is great for learning courses, you can learn to nail the corkscrew far quicker this way. A much needed trait if your going to play online. Laguna Seca is always a good race, as is maple valley, I spent many a happy hour there racing D & C group cars against friends, the lower powered vehicles meant getting the sweeping corners right to maintain any speed. Going to dust off Forza3 now (after I’ve done the housework).
