Yes to both. And being married to a Greek girl, I am no stranger to unusual names.

But there are unusual names, and, now it seems, seemingly vindictive ones. I think I laughed for a good 5 minutes when I heard it.

Forever disappointed – going into gift shops and never finding you name on a key-ring or mug.

That kid is going to have a nightmare when it’s old enough to have to phone call centres.

My neighbour’s Greek, nice relaxed pragmatic bloke. They were quite astute in calling their son Jason.

    Greek or Cypriot?

It’s okay, I’m sure he’ll be known as Tolis.

At least you can pronounce his surname, took me a few days to get around my wife’s surname when I first met her.

    @chip – no, that’s Mr Opodopolous.

It’s a little known Eastenders fact that his first name is Trevor.

If that was said in Glasgow, people would assume it was an armed response officer…..

That’s easy for you to say…

    Maverick Danger Mcphee-clough

Doubtless destined to become an accountant.

Could have been worse, could have been Nigel.

I joked about giving my son Danger as his middle name, was never actually going to go through with it though. It is one of his nick names now though.

One of the doctors smeared in the recent Moet Medics articles was called “Stuart Stewart” which I guess is kind of similar in a Scottish way.

I really do have a mate called Mike Hunt.

He was a manager in a local supermarket, oh what fun we had popping in and pretending to complain about stuff at the tills.

    I’m not joking.

No but her surname is Ilian and she is very neatly shaved

It has a ring to it, that’s for sure.

I can’t help thinking when they do introduce themselves, later on in life, that it’ll be a case of ” no, no don’t apologise” and the inevitable ” I’m not, that’s my name!” Retort..

Good for a few giggles for sure.

    a bad Harry Potter spell

Spells in HP were in Latin, not Greek. So unless he was off to some foreign wizarding school, he’s still going to be in for it when he gets to Hogwarts.
