Right then 2 threads in one, 2 weeks ago the missus decided that things were over. It’s not been going well for a bit but it still was a shock. For those that picked up on other stuff we I moved to Oz with her 2 1/2 years ago so it makes things a little more complex.

After a lot of stuff I decided that it was time to sort out the DH frame I had… (displacement activity) so I dropped it off to stripped and powder coated and got the rest of the bits together for the build. A mate had donated his old DH bike as it was gathering dust but the wrong size so I set to.

The front triangle got safety yellow, the rear end was new from commencal as it cost £10 more for the rear end and dropouts than the dropouts did.

With some help from the LBS a shock arrived

and with a bit more wrangling everything has just about worked (botched the chain device with some mods after the other thread)
    Commencal DH Supreme 2009
The headset is 1/2 a pig pro and half a Shimano Pro one, the shock bolts came from the spares box, the nut for the bolt through was in the spares as the other bike was a direct bolt on saint which didn’t fit, managed to go retro with the rear mech from the LBS old crap box and get Ultegra road and the I-Beam post was $20 with the saddle chucked in. The lovely blue grips were left over from somewhere else 🙂

All in a bargain mid life crisis without the sports car.

thats probably all I’m going to say on the first part but I hope I can enjoy riding the DH bike.

I think it needs some decals on the front

Might I suggest something in this style to represent your new found freedom

I think that’s been a great way to spend some time keeping your mind away from the obvious, can only echo what some others have said, chin up, things WILL work out in the end

Cheers guys, like the look of some of those decals

Though buying something for the bike kind of breaks the rules of the build 🙂
But then again all rules are out now anyway

Sorry to hear your first news but your second is much better, paint is very “crash test” hopefully that won’t be the case!

Ride it like you stole it!

Hope you’re ok. Went through the same, was rubbish but now life is much better than it was.
