with the optional Angus accessory fitted. The wee man loves going out on the bike, and although I’ve yet to ride it without the child carrier attached, I have to say I really rate the geometry and riding position. Next week will see it pushed a bit harder on hols, so we’ll see what it rides like without a little ‘un up front and the seat gizmo removed.

Big thanks go to the fellas at The Bike Chain – very good advice when sought, and a top build. Thanks again guys!

Here’s Angus on his balance bike. To be fair, he got his first so some would say I was simply copying his style.

Here’s a summary of the spec as it stands.

    Ragley Blue Pig Frame
Hope Hoops Pro 2 with Stans Flow Front (20mm maxle)
Hope Hoops Pro 2 with Stans Flow Rear
    Avid Elixir R Rear
    Avid Elixir R Front
    Rockshox Sektor Coil U-turn
    SLX 10 speed groupset
Nuke Proof Warhead 760mm riser handlebars
    Nuke Proof Warhead 60mm Stem
    Nuke Proof Warhead DC Headset
    Nuke Proof Warhead Layback Seatpost
    Ragley Seat Clamp
    Charge Spoon seat
    Ragley Lock-on Grips
    Specialized Eskar 2Bliss 2.3″ Tyres
    Wellgo MG1 Flat Pedals

Flame away about the background shed, paving, wheelbarrow and hose etc…my soul is prepared.

Oh, and thanks to the STW massif for the advice on forks/groupset/wheels – being a bit of a beginner with this sort of stuff, you turned a potential minefield in to a pleasurable experience.
    Cheers,

    Andy

must’ve taken hours to fit the tyres, what with no logos to line up and all – or do they spin on the rim in perpetual motion ?

    Hi druidh,

No, no stickers as yet. I’m pretty time poor at the moment (I know, I know, how long does it take to slap some stickers on the frame?) Planning to sort that out next week when I have some time off work. I’ll be poring over others’ attempts on the Ragley website for inspiration.

Thanks for the nice comments float…I hope you’re right.

Not a Ragley fan for the most part.

    But yours looks very nice!

Good man – and you didn’t have Druidh telling you mid position seats kill children. Getting the LOCT in a year or two’s time?

    Druidh – you’re slipping.

Thanks bullheart – coming from someone who doesn’t particularly like these bikes, that’s a real compliment. Cheers fella.

LOCT igm? Sorry, I know I work in IT, but that acronym must’ve slipped past me.

I like that both bikes match his hair that’s the ultimate in colour coordination 😉

just a minor point and not wanting to lecture or anything – not sure it’s such a good idea to leave children in these seats with the bike balanced against something, as in the top photo.

Very easy for the kid to cause the bike to fall over and wouldn’t be nice if they hit something on the way down.

I have one for the older lad – he’s done the Les Gets 4X course on it with me.

A Weeride will be purchased for the younger lad next spring (he’s only 12 weeks) – unless of course you fancied a swap next spring for about a year.

Is there a rough price and weight for that build if its not rude to ask?

Nice looking build, although your son could do with a hair cut 😉

Papa_Lazarou – fair comment. To be fair though, he’s less likely to fall off than his old man.

Will be more careful in future though.

igm, I could be tempted. Those LOCT look the dog’s danglies. Very trick.

Scamper…about £1400 all in (including build). Not cheap, but it should see me out.

And I’ll let Mrs Geordie know about the hair situation. However, we like to keep it a wee bit longer to make up for the fact that his dad has lost almost all of his 🙁
