Anyone got this yet or if not know when it goes live? If you do have it, any thoughts?

You need sky Internet to use it I think.

It’s been live for well over a year I think. I’ve been using it for that long, just press red in the guide where you’d press green for the planner.

I think you may need to activate it in the menu somewhere. I’m on virgin internet btw

You’re talking about Sky Anytime Funky, not ‘plus’.

I have it and was not ‘rolled out’ I just done it myself. You need an unlimited internet usage account (dont think it has to be with sky?) and a Sky HD box. I am on Sky with telephone, TV and Broadband so all ok for me. I just nipped to tesco bought a £6 ethernet cable, one end in the router and one in the back of the HD box and I was away. You can download and stream programmes as you go. The Anytime + Icon appears at the top next to the planner, TV Guide etc….

You can wait for Sky to roll out or get a sky chap to come and charge you £60 (no shit!) or can do it in 5 minutes and your own ethernet cable. There’s a free video of how to do on the Sky website.

Some good programmes on there and worth it for free effectively as long as you have an unlimited Broadband account/ tariff

my sky anytime was active when the menu layout changed back in the summer to the menu layout with the small screen in the corner. as funkymonkey said, press red when in the menu.

i have not had the box hooked up to the phone/internet since they installed it over a year ago, all the line is there for is to initially activate the sky box and to charge you for pay per view. any updates are done through the satellites.

The OP is not talking about the bog standard anytime that’s been out for years he’s talking about the new anytime+ . I’ve not tried or tested to see if I can get it, my router is in another room.

I have an ethernet cable in the right area, so might try it later if the above people are correct.

I’m already a full Sky+HD user, and Sky wants £40 set up for me to do it myself……that’s 40 quid for me to plug in a cable I already have, or 60 quid for an engineer to come out and plug a cable in and fart in my living room

Boba Fatt – take no notice of Sky – as long as you have the unlimited internet package and you can plug in an ethernet cable into the back of your HD box and one to the router you should be up and running. I did, never even contacted sky – seen it on their website and just done it myself. Works fine.

Got an XBox and just set up Sky Player.

Not explored it fully, but there seems to be some half decent ‘on demand’ selections.

Just watching Transporter 3 for a few minutes to try it out. The quality isn’t the best (no HD) and I only seem to have stereo sound, but I’ll suss it out further and report back. No streaming issues so far, even though my XBox told me my ‘g’ series router was no good for TV and I needed an ‘n’ series.

Still waiting for them to sort out the Amstrad boxes. 🙁

Anyone who has a pace box should have it by now.

Not available on the sky+ boxes, need to upgrade to either HD or the new standard sky+ box which sky want £100 for as current standard sky+ box has no ethernet connection

Do you have to have Sky internet or will any provider do?

You do need sky BB. Also depends what type model of Sky HD box you have, sky are rolling it out to various box models at different times. The original HD Box (Thomson) is never going to be enabled.

TBH I am not that impressed, I have a relatively slow internet connection (4MB) the Sky box downloads about 70% of the programme before it allows me to start viewing. A mate of mine has 16MB connection and his is pretty close to true VOD.

Had it for a few months as wife works for Sky and got put on the trial. A few bugs at first, but now fine. Good selection of stuff. About a 2 minute wait for an average 120 min film on a 10mb connection.
